Lexus officially announced a recall of 4,215 vehicles, covering the 2022 Lexus NX250, NX350, NX350h and NX450h+ produced between April 2021 and January 2022. The reason for this recall is that there is a risk of the front shock absorber falling off due to poor welding at the plant.
Documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration show that some of the welding points were missing during the assembly of this batch of vehicles, which may cause cracks or even fall off with the front shock absorber. In the production workshop, the production robot has an incorrect welding signal due to the program, so that the next step of the production line will automatically skip the welding step, which is the main reason for this risk.
Lexus officials said they hope that the owners of the NX series will contact the local dealer as soon as possible to check whether their car has welding problems. At the same time, Lexus will also issue a recall notice to the owner as soon as possible by June 6, and the vehicle will be repaired free of charge.
