The "United Nations Army" on the Korean battlefield, what we often call the 16-nation coalition, consisted of troops from the United States, Britain, Turkey, Canada, Thailand, New Zealand, Australia, the Netherlands, France, the Philippines, Greece, Belgium, Colombia, Ethiopia, Luxembourg, and South Africa.

These countries, with the exception of Britain and Canada, which share the same roots as the United States and are both Anglo-Saxons, are essentially symbolic troops. With the exception of the United States, these countries had the highest number of troops at 36,769, with the earliest units participating in the Korean War in July 1950 and the latest arriving in Korea in May 1951.

In addition to the 16 countries that directly sent combat troops to the war, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Italy and India also participated in the Korean War, and although they did not send combat troops, they sent hospitals or medical ships to support the "United Nations Army" operations.
