The "secret button" on the iPhone is all the rage on TikTok
One TikTok user showed 1 million viewers how to use features that have been around since 2020.
After the viral TikTok, iPhone users found that their devices had one more button than they thought — which could make their lives easier.
If you're not using the "secret button" on the back of your phone, TikTok's creator @elyawesometech says, "You're using the wrong iPhone." ”
The video, which reached 1 million views a day later, reveals an accessibility feature where one user said "changed (their) lives forever."
The creators highlighted the Back Tap feature on iPhone, which works for any device running at least iOS 14. This specific update was released in September 2020.
It allows users to simply tap on the back of the phone near the Apple logo, and their phone will perform any function they program through the settings menu. You can set up the Back Tap function to turn on the camera, take screenshots, turn on the flashlight, and even turn the volume up or down.
This TikTok creator uses the Back Tap feature to easily shazam any song or audio that's playing, which means your phone will tell you the name of the song. To do this, you have to download the Shazam and Shortcuts apps on your phone.
How to use the Secret Button
Make sure you've updated your iPhone to at least iOS 14.
Then, go to Settings, scroll to Accessibility, go to Touch, and at the bottom tap Back to Tap.
You can choose whether you want to enable two taps, triple taps, or both.
Then, choose what the Secret button can do for you from the options. Once your selection is locked, you can simply double-tap or triple on the back of your phone to activate your features.
The discreet button can even work with the phone case on your device.
Although this is not a new feature, many people say it is the first time they have heard of this time-saving technology.
"I've seen a lot of hack videos like this, but never use them. I immediately went to enable it," one user commented.
