In the Spring Festival of the Year of the Tiger, the new Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award Original Illustration Exhibition landed at Duoyunxuan Art Center for the third consecutive year, providing a children's cultural feast for the public.
With the annual theme of "Journey Together", this year's illustration exhibition expresses the hope of remaining open and inclusive to mankind, enhancing exchanges and mutual learning, and working together to create a better future. The exhibition exhibits 178 works in 57 groups selected by expert judges from more than 30 countries, including China, Italy, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Germany, Romania, the United States, Mexico, South Korea and the Philippines. The professional groups are all presented in the form of a series of works, and many works are on public display for the first time. Illustrators of different skin colors and different races use their brushes to express their thoughts and interpretations of the annual theme and their visions for a better future.
The public group continued to advocate the reading of classics, with young readers drawing inspiration from the 10 winning works of the previous year's Literary Prize, and the exhibition featured 50 masterpieces selected from more than 2,500 submissions. It is worth mentioning that the public group also received overseas works from Australia, the United States and Canada for the first time this year.
At the exhibition site, a number of illustration themes are set up to take photos and punch cards, so that visitors can "walk in" the illustrations and experience a "common journey" with the protagonists in the illustrations, leaving a good memory. In the derivatives area, cultural and creative products such as practical and beautiful reading notes and colorful bags bring illustrations into daily life and decorate life with art.
In addition to admiring the colorful illustrations, visitors can also enjoy the winning works of the chen bochui international children's literature award. The whole frame of the award-winning works is in the shape of a piano, the layers of partitions are like staves, and the years of the award-winning books are like notes leaping on it, and from time to time, beautiful music flows. Among them, the 10 award-winning works of the 2021 Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award were collectively unveiled for the first time.
This year's exhibition attempts to explore multi-sensory experiences of children's literature, using the model of "literature + technology" to provide new readings of picture books and reveal the stories behind the works. The Portuguese picture book "The Right Side of the First Floor" is full of suspense, the exhibition combines the picture book picture with the Chinese dubbing, and uses AI light and shadow interaction technology to produce picture book interactive animation, so that readers can preemptively appreciate the style of this children's book picture book that has not yet been introduced in China.
The award-winning work "The Sound of a Snowy Day" created by children's literature writer Mei Zihan is a picture book with beautiful pictures and poetic words. Visitors can not only watch the dynamic pictures of picture books and listen to beautiful stories, but also participate in dubbing readings, generate and forward dubbing video works, and feel the charm of children's literature with relatives and friends.
After the exhibition at Duoyunxuan Art Center, this year, the illustration exhibition will also travel to Ningbo, Zhejiang, Nantong, Jiangsu and Karamay, Xinjiang, to attract more readers who love to read and like illustration. The artistic vitality displayed in the illustration exhibition continues to expand the brand influence and radiation of the Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award, cultivating future illustrators in the form of reading and painting, and adding a childlike artistic temperament to the city. The exhibition will run until March 31.
