Shu Huibo, an associate professor and writer from a well-known university in Wuhan, once again won the Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award

Changjiang Daily Wuhan Client December 14, the 33rd Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award Ceremony was held in Shanghai a few days ago, Wuhan Writers Association signed writers, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law School of Journalism and Cultural Communication Shu Huibo's work "Chasing the Light of the Child" won the annual book (text) award.

Named after "Hans Christian Andersen of the East" Chen Bochui, the Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award was founded in 1981 by children's literature writer, translator and educator Chen Bochui to recognize children's literature writers, illustrators and related children's literature professionals who have made outstanding achievements and great contributions to the cause of children's literature in China and the world, and has been officially promoted to an international children's literature award since 2014.

The 33rd Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Awards included 108 kinds of text books and 347 kinds of picture books from 28 countries and regions. A total of 10 works were awarded for the Annual Book (Text) Award and the Annual Book (Picture Book) Award.

This is the fourth time that Shu Huibo has received this award. Previously, Shu Huibo's work "Afternoon Tea with Strangers" won the single award in 2013, "You Listen to Me" won the single award in 2014, and "Dreams are the Light in Life" won the Book (Text) Award in 2017.

The award-winning work "Children Chasing the Light" tells the experience of volunteer teaching at Lanxi Primary School in the western hubei region from the perspective of a college student volunteer teacher, Mr. Su, vividly showing the psychological process of the volunteer college students from estrangement to integration into rural education, from not understanding to swearing to watch, accompanying and witnessing the growth of children.

In "The Child Chasing the Light", Shu Huibo depicts the simple customs and living conditions of the rural areas of western Hubei with delicate and in-depth brushstrokes, which makes the picture of rural life presented in the work have a strong regionality and distinct era. At the same time, the author uses poetic brushstrokes to write about the free and unrestrained life of rural children, vigorous vitality, and inspiring dreams, which injects positive energy into the current spiritual life growth of children.

Shu Huibo is currently a member of the China Writers Association, a professionally contracted writer of the Hubei Writers Association, the director of the Children's Literature Creation and Research Center of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, and a master tutor. He is the author of many children's literature works such as "Scissors and Stone Cloth", "Dreams are the Light in Life", and "The Land of Angels". He is good at using compassionate words to describe the warmth and light of human nature in the life of suffering, and his works have been hailed as "ballads that reverberate above the soul".
