Huang Wenxiu, a native of Guangxi, voluntarily returned to the old Baise Revolutionary Area after graduating from Beijing Normal University with a master's degree in 2016, and took the initiative to invite Miao to a poor village to serve as the first secretary of the village. In the early morning of June 17, 2019, she was tragically killed in a sudden flash flood and gave up her precious life at the age of 30.
How does a young girl born in a poor mountainous area and from a poor family face the problems in the process of growing up, and how to combine her personal dream with the dream of her home country? ...... With these questions in mind, children's literature writer Ruan Mei came to Guangxi to interview Huang Wenxiu's relatives and friends, which took two years to write "A Girl Goes Forward". Just a few days ago, this book was just selected as one of the "2021 China Good Books".

On April 27th, the seminar "A Girl Walks Forward" was held simultaneously in Beijing, Shijiazhuang, Hebei and Yueyang, Hunan in a combination of online and offline. I think this fairytale writing style is particularly literary, whether you are an adult reader or a child reader, you can be attracted to it little by little. ”

He Xiangyang believes that as a female writer, Ruan Mei has deeply captured the kindness and beauty of Huang Wenxiu. "It turns out that we think that role models always have to sacrifice a lot of personal things, which is right, but I think Chinese women still have the most basic qualities of kindness, hard work, and bravery, and these precious qualities are fully reflected in this book."
Other participating experts also believed that "A Girl Walking Forward" is an excellent children's literature work with both documentary style and novel characteristics, which is both ideological and artistic, in line with the requirements of the spirit of the times and the trend of historical development. Ruan Mei also shared the experience behind the creation of "A Girl Goes Forward", she mainly has three experiences, one is to restore the growth path of the model is the responsibility of children's literature writers; the other is that as a children's documentary literary work, the writer's intentions in interviews are more important than the later construction and writing; the third is that the growth of a child is not only the mutual companionship and growth of a family, but also the growth of a country.
