Kwong Yiming, who lived in Guangzhou, was a scholar-type calligrapher and seal engraver. Two years ago, I read his book "Treatise on the Art of Lingnan in the Late Qing Dynasty" in the Xinhua Bookstore in Wangfujing, Beijing, and left some impressions.
Gengziqiu, due to work relations, the editorial board of the journal "History of Calligraphy and Painting", vice chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Book Association, and member of the Xiling Printing Society, Cai Zhaobo Dao, was invited to push Mingjun's WeChat business card to me, so we became WeChat friends and conducted in-depth exchanges on topics related to printing. I invited him to enter the "History of Calligraphy and Painting and the Biography of the Indians", and he later sent more than twenty seal engravings and seals, saying that there were no theme articles that were included in the biography, and entrusted me to write an objective commentary for it, so there was this text marriage. Mingjun graduated from the master's degree in Chinese painting at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, and later engaged in cultural and museum work in Guangzhou, during which he served as the head of the research department and the museum, and planned and implemented many academic activities and exhibitions. In his spare time, he was fascinated by the art of Jinshi calligraphy and painting, and because he was studying for a doctorate in the direction of literary and artistic aesthetics at Jinan University, he quit his job and devoted himself to learning and practicing art. As a result, he has made enviable achievements in the fields of literary and art theory and calligraphy and seal engraving in the field of literary and artistic theory and calligraphy and seal engraving in his years, and has achieved fruitful results. At present, he also has three artistic identities: a member of the Xiling Printing Society, a member of the China Artists Association, and a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, and is also a researcher of the Calligraphy and Painting Institute of the Central Research Museum of Literature and History, which is rare in the current calligraphy and painting seal carving circle. However, in each other's WeChat communication, Yi Mingjun appeared modest and low-key. He said very frankly that in recent years, he has focused on his studies, and the time for artistic creation is relatively small, and he has not yet perfected the situation. Looking at the current artists, there are very few artists who can achieve outstanding achievements in artistic creation, theoretical research and organizational activities.
In addition to studying and governing with Ming Jun, he practiced the sword to rule the seal, and slept and carved the seal for many years, and enjoyed it tirelessly. There is a saying in the "Liaozhai Zhiyi Ah Bao": "Those who are poor in books must work, and those who are skilled in art will be good." These two points are especially evident in The Ming Jun. It can be said that literary and art theory and the creation of calligraphy and painting seal engraving are two-pronged and complement each other, and their theoretical research goes without saying, which comprehensively reflects the high literary and artistic accomplishment of a contemporary Indian. When we look back and admire his seal engraving works, it is not difficult to find that the seal under his knife has been a deep effort, which can be described as going out of Qin and entering the Han Dynasty, and the printing style is stable. The path of the Mingjun seal engraving method is relatively wide, but it is mainly based on the exploration and research of qin seals, and most of them are white seals. For example, his representative works include "Yimin and the People", "Zhongjing Foreign Sincerity", "Everything Goes Smoothly", "Rainbow in the Heart", "Daily Progress has Merit", "One Gets", "Respects Things", "Great" and so on. Of course, there are also works that imitate the Style of Han Seal, such as "Monkey Nature Is Difficult to Tame" and "Ruyi"; there are works in the style of antique seals, such as "Yiming Yi waving"; there are also works that imitate coins with The Han minting printing knife method, such as "Ping'an"; there are also works with small seals that are printed and show a clear genre of printing style, such as "Three Dao Zhai" and so on. Overall, with Ming Jun's more than twenty years of indulging in seal carving creation in his spare time, the road is positive, and the seal style is pure, mainly reflected in the purity of the seal method, the steady knife method, and the harmony of the chapter law, and each of his seals cannot see obvious faults, but also can not see the obvious personal seal style. Perhaps, at present, Ming Jun's seal engraving creation is in a bottleneck period of development, and more thinking and exploration are needed, which is also a problem that he himself has realized and communicated with me again and again.
Yi Mingjun is entering the golden period of life, full of energy, academic excellence, and stable life. If his seal engraving can go deep into the study of more than three generations of ancient characters and the creation of seal books, extend the scholar-type artistic road, explore the aesthetic law of "books from printing in, printing from books out" proposed by the Qing people, and strive to purify and strengthen the personal seal calligraphy style, in time, the seal engraving art under his knife will definitely appear "rainbow in the heart".

Born in 1980, a native of Heyuan City, Guangdong Province. He graduated from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts with a master's degree in Chinese painting teaching and a doctoral degree in literature and art aesthetics from Jinan University. He is currently a member of xiling printing society, a researcher of the calligraphy and painting institute of the Central Research Museum of Literature and History, a member of the Chinese Artists Association, and a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association.
