Sang Jianhua, a special judge of this issue, analyzes the Zhejiang school printing style in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China period for everyone, which is wonderful! (Pull down to the end of the article, book donation benefits.) )
Sang Jianhua SANG JIAN HUA
Born in 1964 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. Studied under Mr. Yu Zheng. He is currently a first-class artist, a director of Xiling Printing Society, a researcher of the China Seal Engraving Art Academy of the China Academy of Arts, a director of the Zhejiang Calligraphers Association, the deputy director of the Seal Engraving Creation Committee, and the vice president of the Zhejiang Provincial Federation of Social Sciences and the Zhejiang Seal Engraving Art Research Institute. Judge of the 6th and 7th Cross-Strait Young and Middle-Aged Seal Engraving Competition.
Zhejiang printing style in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China
Sang Jianhua/Wen
In 1904, Ding Ren, Wang Zhen, Ye Ming, Wu Yin, etc., with the purpose of "preserving the golden stone and studying printing", founded the Xiling Printing Society on the banks of the Xiling Bridge in the Lonely Mountain of the West Lake, and invited Wu Changshuo to be the president.
In this period, the Zhejiang Indians have undergone fundamental changes because of the socio-political, economic and cultural environment, various ideologies and genres intersect and collide with each other, the literati are far from politics, coupled with the prevalence of gold and stone evidence, the prosperity of seal engraving art has been created, and a number of outstanding art masters have been produced, they have led the way from different aspects, each has its own achievements, plus the outstanding creation of many masters, supplemented by poetry and calligraphy, enriching its connotation, and expanding the creation content of the side sections, the artistic style is lined up, each is beautiful, It interprets the expression of seal engraving art from many aspects, and proves the inseparable flesh-and-blood relationship between seal engraving and calligraphy and painting.
Chen Julai seal
The Zhejiang Indians in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China pursued continuous changes on the basis of inheriting the Zhejiang seal carvings, and put into a large number of creative practices, embarked on the road of undulating development of "transmutation", and has continued the boom that has not been low, and has always been in the development context of the three lines of synchronous progress, showing brilliance, occupying most of the seal carvings in this period.
Fang Jiekan seal
The first is a branch that inherits the original typical Indian style of the Zhejiang school and integrates people's own personality and aesthetic tastes, representing the characters:
Jin Jian, the seal carved authentic Zhejiang school, and also has the strength of Zhao Zhiqian and Xu Sangeng, the printing style is simple and elegant, the small seal Zhu Wenyin line is euphemistic and delicate, elegant and ancient, and has a clear rhyme. The side style is crisp and beautiful, extremely exquisite.
Jin Jian Seal
Zhong Yijing, seal carved Bai Wencheng Chen Qiutang, Zhao Cixian two homes, fine and elegant, both shape and god, small seal Zhu Wen de Zhao Zhiqian, Xu Sangeng long, fluent and fresh, round and charming. The side section is more iron painted silver hook, exquisite. It has a deep influence on the development of gongwen all the way to the printing style, and is one of the representative figures of the Zhejiang sect in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Ming Dynasty.
Zhong Yi saluted the seal
Wang Fu'an is one of the founders of xiling printing society. At the beginning of the seal carving, it began with the Qin and Han dynasties, explored the Zhejiang school, and also included the Ming and Qing dynasties. There are many faces of creation, including profound and vigorous works such as Huang Yi and Chen Hongshou, as well as steady and dense interests such as Wu Rangzhi and Zhao Zhiqian. After middle age, the eclectic masters gradually formed their own appearance, Bai Wen was mellow and rich, Zhu Wenxiu was full of strength, especially the iron wire seal, condensing euphemisms such as Luoshen Linbo and Chang'e Royal Wind. For the gong stable printing wind generation of grandmasters.
Wang Fu'an Seal
Tang drunken stone, seal carving creation peeping Qin and Han style, Fa Zhejiang Zong essence, and break through the Chen style, whether it is ancient seal, Han Bai wen, fine Zhu Wen yin are broad and simple, with elegance out of it, the pursuit of solemn and thick and absolutely abandon mottled, modified, Han Bai wen yin bold, vast and steady, in the bold ups and downs of the aura.
Tang Drunken Stone Seal
Han Deng'an, seal carving based on the Zhejiang school, traces back to the Zhou and Qin dynasties, and down to the Eight Families of Xiling, Deng Shiru, Wu Rangzhi, Xu Sangeng, and Huang Mufu, with extensive harvesting, exquisite craftsmanship and elegance in the printing style, especially the small seal fine Zhu Wenyin has the highest attainment. Sha Menghai commented that its seal engraving is a representative of today's solemn and quiet faction.
Handon An Seal
Wu Putang, seal carving from the ancient seal, Chinese seal style, pure out of tradition, elegant, neat, thick edge of the small seal of the fine text, especially good charm, white text ancient and colorful, elegant and simple, jagged and ups and downs. With a rigorous victory, its horizontal pen multi-arc body posture is characterized by it. Zhu Wen Han seal, its edges are changeable, the printing work is fine, and it is set off by a thin border. While inheriting the Zhejiang school, it is mainly based on divine self-rhyme, and the beauty of thin lines is quite different from its predecessors.
Wu Putang Seal
The second is based on the Zhejiang school, and later became famous in the indian altar with the author's own new appearance. Representative Figures:
Xu Sangeng, a beginner in seal engraving Chen Hongshou and Zhao Zhichen, in middle age, the indian style is referenced to the Han seal and the Han seal knot body, the strokes are graceful and colorful, the style is flowing, and the density is exquisite, and it is known as "Wu Belt Dangfeng". Its line is edged, the knife technique is fierce, natural and powerful, and has a famous style.
Xu Sangeng Seal
Zhao Zhiqian, who first learned the Zhejiang school of seal carving, and later took the Fahui school, absorbed The Han mirror, coins, weights, edicts, Chinese inscriptions, bricks and tiles, and stele inscriptions into the printing, and boldly explored the art of borders. The white seal is surrounded by a wide red color to be used as a sidebar, and the sidebar of Zhu Wenyin is either broken or curved, or there is no column on one side, and the form is different. The side section of the seal has a face body, a line book, and then uses Weibei calligraphy, or uses vivid pictures. The side text has a pen and a knife, and the taste of gold and stone is very strong. His seal engraving not only had a far-reaching influence on China, but also had a significant impact on the development of Japanese seal engraving art.
Zhao Zhiqian seal
Wu Changshuo was the first president of Xiling Printing Society. Seal carving was the first to learn the Zhejiang school, following the Fa Deng Shiru and Wu Xizai, and merging the Zhejiang and Anhui families. After middle age, he got rid of the barriers, put stone drum text, sealing mud and brick and tile characters into the printing, and organically combined Qian Song's cutting belt cutting and Wu Xizai's punching knife method, and developed into a blunt knife cutting and punching combination of knife method, and melted poems, books, paintings, and seals into one furnace, and the seal calligraphy has a penmanship. The works are simple and thick, majestic, and the printing style is majestic. Its seal carving style is mostly imitated by future generations, opening up a new realm of seal carving creation. It also had a great influence on the Japanese seal engraving community.
Zhao Shifeng, seal carving in the early years to take the Fa Zhejiang school, after the fine study of Zhao Zhiqian, Deng Shiru, the Zhou Qin Xiaoxi and Song Yuanyuan Zhu Wen all the way to the achievements are particularly deep, the printing style is fine and elegant, dignified and generous, neat and straight, fine and mellow, fine and ancient, fine beyond the predecessors. At the same time, he was also an outstanding educator with many disciples, and famous calligraphy and painting seal engravers in the modern art world such as Sha Menghai, Chen Julai, Ye Luyuan, Fang Jiekan, Zhang Lu'an, Xu Bangda, etc. were all his students.
Sha Menghai was the fourth president of the Xiling Printing Society, studied calligraphy and seal engraving from Wu Changshuo and Zhao Shiyi, and was not confined to the division, advocating a simple and humble way, not specializing in the family, combining the thinness of the Qin Quan's edition with the Qingjian of the Ming and Qing dynasties, creating a style that had never been similar before. Mr. Wu Changshuo gave him the gift of "Zhejiang people do not learn from Uncle Zhao, and the partial teacher is a unique hero", which highly praised his artistic achievements.
Chen Banding Seal
The third article is that there is no special teacher, its own style, and the representative figure:
Shou Xi, seal carved by the First Emperor Qin Han and private Shu Zhao Zhiqian, participated in wu Changshuo's law, and later changed to Huang Shiling, taking the heads of the families, forming a very strong and bright seal.
Through HengYi, the seal is carved with the Seal of the Qin and Han Dynasties, gentle and elegant, and the Zhejiang school has a strong atmosphere. The thickness of Zhu Wenyin's lines is different, and the seal method emphasizes the change of the structure, and uses the technique of borrowing edges and connecting edges to enrich the layout of the seal. Baiwenyin absorbs the characteristics of ancient seals, breaks the inherent layout style of Chinese seals, pays attention to the dense contrast of printing surfaces, staggers and is full of fun, fully reflects the strong calligraphy skills and superb layout skills. The creation of the side section, like its printing surface, has also formed its own characteristics, with the "Baobao Zi Stele" line and small seal as the model, which is strange and ancient, and has a unique style.
Jing Heng Yi Seal
Pan Tianshou, seal carving through Heng Yi enlightenment, please benefit Wu Changshuo a lot, often have whimsical ideas, rule the seal wide Bo Cangmu, extraordinary momentum, strange and interesting, sorry for the seal carving works are not much.
Pan Tianshou Seal
Coming to Chusheng, the seal engraver Fa Qin Han, after learning Wu Xizai, Zhao Zhiqian, Wu Changshuo, Qi Baishi and others, the seal engraving method is extremely light and dense, jagged, interesting and moving, the sword technique is indulgent, heroic and smooth. Between the square inches, or Park Maohun Mu, Magnificent and Majestic; or Steep and Refreshing, Elegant and Dangerous, all have unique personalities, their own style, and they have opened up new paths and become their own faces when many people are standing. Its Xiao-shaped seal is more integrated with Han portraits and ancient Xiao-shaped seals into a furnace, calling the Xiong seal altar.
Come chu sheng seal
The seal engravers of the above three lines were the main creative backbone of the printing altar at that time, and the masters and masters were born, who were omnipotent in India and had an important position in the history of modern seal engraving.
Seal carvers of the same period also have Qi Baishi, Zhao Guni, etc., because they are not from Zhejiang, they are not included in the introduction of this article.
Other Zhejiang Indians who recorded names in the history of India during this period were also Huang Binhong, Luo Zhenyu, Wu Yin, Ye Ming, Ding Erzhong, Zhu Deyi, Chen Banding, Wu Han, Du Zhaolin, Jin Cheng, Gao Shixian, Ding Fuzhi, Li Shutong, Lou Xinhu, Ma Heng, Ma Yifu, Chen Shuru, Gao Shishi, Ma Gongyu, Zhao Heqin, Wu Ze, Fang Jiekan, Zhang Lu'an, Zhu Leshan, Chen Julai, Zou Mengchan, Zhu Qishi, Yu Rentian, Chen Yitong, Qin Kangxiang, and Shan Xiaotian.
Huang Binhong Seal
Zhejiang has a profound historical accumulation, developed economic advantages, and a fascinating cultural environment.
During the Republic of China period, the Zhejiang school in decline showed a momentum of revitalization, on the one hand, the establishment of the Xiling Printing Society played a certain role in promoting, on the other hand, it benefited from the emergence of such a large number of representative masters and masters, who had considerable artistic achievements, were good at absorbing the strengths of other schools and families, vigorously innovated, revitalized the Zhejiang school of seal carving art, and based on the diversification of the expression of seal carving art, taking the strengths of others, making up for their own shortcomings, expanding and expanding the connotation of Zhejiang seal carving art.
Through their continuous innovation, they gave the Zhejiang school tenacious artistic vitality, not only created a new pattern of seal carving art at that time, but also had an extremely far-reaching impact on the development of seal carving art at present and in the future.
