But in the more than a year after the launch of the Moto Razr 2020 and its 5G version, there was no news of the new machine. Recently, a patent filed by Motorola was approved by WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization). Judging from the patent diagram, the screen of this product is folded up and down outward, rather than the inward folding design adopted by Moto Razr before.
According to the patented figure, the top of the phone has a raised camera module, which means that the bottom of the screen will be shorter. The hinge will also feature a new solution that minimizes creases and allows the phone to fold flush without gaps.
It is worth mentioning that the new Moto Razr folding phone will be equipped with a flexible display on the outside of the phone. When the display is folded, it means that the user will see a display on both the front and back of the phone, and this design may be enhanced on some software and will also bring unique features.
There are rumors that the new Moto Razr will support UWB, that is, ultra-wideband technology, is a wireless carrier communication technology, can achieve highly accurate, centimeter-level positioning, for mobile phones' near-field wireless communications, this technology is expected to make mobile phones become car keys.
As of now, Razr folding screen mobile phones have released two generations of products. The first model was officially released in 2019, equipped with a Snapdragon 710 processor and a battery capacity of only 2510 mAh. The second model, released in 2020, is powered by a Snapdragon 765G processor with a battery capacity of 2800 mAh. On the whole, the endurance performance of these two models is not satisfactory, giving people the feeling that "it is not useful in the middle". It is said that the new Moto Razr will be positioned as a flagship, which will presumably improve its endurance.
The specific release time and pricing of this phone have not yet been announced, but it is expected to be released in the first quarter of this year.
