According to the report given by the Association of Passenger Transporters, the total wholesale volume of new energy vehicles in China in 2021 reached 3.312 million units, an increase of 181.0% year-on-year, and the total retail sales volume was 2.989 million units, an increase of 169.1% year-on-year. Through this set of data, it is shown that domestic new energy vehicles are gradually popularizing, and consumer demand for new energy vehicles is particularly strong.
The biggest problem facing new energy vehicles at present is that endurance, for an electric vehicle, to some extent, directly determines the life and death of the car. Therefore, the battery indirectly becomes the most core part of the electric vehicle.
Recently, some media broke the news that Dongfeng Motor delivered 50 sets of Dongfeng E70 equipped with solid-state batteries in small batches, which were provided by Ganfeng Lithium.
It is reported that the solid-state battery equipped with Dongfeng E70 adopts solid-state flexible separator technology, which has not deflagration in harsh environments such as single needle punching, 50% extrusion deformation, discharge 60 °C high temperature and hot box 180 °C, and the safety has been greatly improved.
For solid-state batteries, I believe that everyone is not unfamiliar with it, after all, since 19 years, everyone has determined that it is the general direction of future development, is the optimal solution for the current pure electric vehicles, and even Toyota, a car giant, agrees!
The biggest advantage of solid-state batteries is that the volume density is more than ten times that of lithium batteries currently on sale, and the volume is small enough and the weight is light, the key is that it is not prone to deflagration.
But why, Toyota, BYD, Ningde times, Samsung SDI, Solid power and other giants have said that all-solid-state batteries will not be able to achieve real mass production after 2025 at the latest, and we can achieve mass production in less than a few years?
In fact, the solid-state battery provided by Ganfeng Lithium is not an all-solid-state battery in the true sense, but a mixed solid-state battery, commonly known as a solid-liquid hybrid lithium battery. Its form is between liquid lithium batteries and all-solid-state lithium batteries, so it can only be regarded as semi-solid-state batteries to be precise.
Of course, we can not arbitrarily think that Dongfeng Motor is rubbing heat, after all, purely from the working principle, semi-solid-state batteries and all-solid-state batteries are not much different, and the biggest difference is that the form of the electrolyte is different, the former liquid electrolyte accounts for about 5-10%, and the latter electrolyte is a solid electrolyte.
Therefore, semi-solid-state batteries are OK to say that it is a solid-state battery, but it must not be said to be an all-solid-state battery, after all, the form of the electrolyte between the two is completely two concepts.
