DS named the car "E-Tense Performance", and this prototype is another masterpiece of DS's Pure Electric Performance Technology Laboratory. The car is an evolved version of the E-Tense pure electric sports car concept car unveiled by the DS brand at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Since 2016, the DS brand has opened a new sports car shape design and technology research and development level in the "skill tree". The car doubles in power compared to the first concept car unveiled in 2016, and its dual-motor drive power reaches a staggering 805 horsepower, thanks to DS's experience in Formula E.
In addition, the car's most impressive is probably the energy recovery braking system, which provides braking power for the 805 horsepower power output. Amazingly, the DS E-Tense Performance doesn't have a traditional brake pedal, and the car's braking system automatically brakes based on energy recovery settings, which sounds incredible. DS said the car is also equipped with a special power battery and battery cooling system, which DS developed in cooperation with the battery company of French oil giant TotalEnergies.
DS also developed a customized carbon fiber monocoque cockpit for the prototype, which is placed on top of a high-performance suspension, and the suspension system is not only suitable for road driving, but also ensures the stability of driving on the track. Speaking of track driving, during the test phase of the car, The formula e champion Jean-Eric Vergne and Antonio Felix da Costa spent a lot of time tuning and collecting a lot of data, which became the most important part of the development.
While the DS said the E-Tense Performance has no mass production plans, a lot of the technology used in the car will become a reality in future models, with some of these design elements seen in future DS models.
