Previously, Hyundai Motor entered the Japanese market in 2001, but due to unsatisfactory performance, the group stopped most of its business in Japan in 2009, retaining only commercial vehicle businesses such as buses. This will be Hyundai's second entry into the Japanese passenger car market in 13 years.
