At that time, Tesla said in the EIA report that according to the company's plan, the production area added 1,000 people, about 3,000 new employees in the new model production area, and about 6,000 labor quotas in the new model production area.

The above-mentioned insiders believe that after the completion of the expansion project, the annual production capacity of Tesla's Shanghai factory in the next few years is expected to exceed 1 million vehicles.

The data shows that for the whole of 2021, Tesla's deliveries increased by 87%, creating a record of about 936,200 deliveries. Among them, the Shanghai Gigafactory delivered a total of 484,130 vehicles, an increase of 235% year-on-year, accounting for 51.7% of Tesla's annual total global deliveries, surpassing the North American champion Tesla California factory and supporting the "half of the sky" of the global market.

"It is believed that the market competitiveness of electric vehicles will be determined by their overall supply chain and production ramping ability." Tesla has said it plans to increase capacity as quickly as possible, not only from new factories like Austin and Berlin, but also from existing factories like Fremont and Shanghai.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk expects deliveries to easily grow to more than 50 percent in 2022. According to this target, Tesla's global delivery volume will be around 1.4 million units in 2022.

As Tesla's first gigafactory on the European continent, there may still be a possibility of continued delays for the exact start of production of the Berlin plant. Dan Ives, an equity analyst at Wadebush, has said that "given the red tape in Europe, this timeline is still uncertain." But the Berlin Gigafactory needs to be operational by March 2022 or it will affect Tesla's capacity targets. ”

"At a time when the covid-19 pandemic is still raging around the world and there is a shortage of components such as in-vehicle chips, the Shanghai factory is still Tesla's most stable production capacity pillar." According to the analysis of the above-mentioned insiders, the world's three major new energy vehicle markets are China, Europe and the United States, and although the planned production capacity of the Berlin factory in Germany is as high as 450,000 vehicles, as a new factory, its initial production capacity cannot meet the demand of the European market, "The Berlin factory can only produce Model Y in the early stage, which means that the European market still has to rely on the support of the Shanghai gigafactory in a short period of time." ”

In addition to continuing to supply the European market, the production capacity of Tesla's Shanghai factory will also ensure delivery in the Chinese market to a certain extent. The data shows that in 2021, the tesla Model 3/Y insurance volume in China reached 310,000 vehicles; and the Financial Associated Press reporter learned at the beginning of this year that the delivery cycle of the domestic Model 3/Y has reached four months. Insufficient production capacity and delivery channels have restricted Tesla's "higher level" in China.

Tesla China's latest job posting includes a large number of delivery-related positions, while showing that Tesla is opening up new regional markets.
