BEIJING, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Between the "Bird's Nest" at the National Stadium and Peking University, "two points and one line" are ready to rehearse performances... The Russian girl Alex's schedule for several days has become particularly tight.

This year marks her sixth year of study in China, and now she is a graduate student at Peking University's School of Journalism and Communication. At the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics, she will participate in the program performance as a representative of college students.

According to her, since November last year, the opening ceremony actors have rehearsed at least three times a week, and this winter vacation is basically spent in the "Bird's Nest". Although it was hard work, she was deeply honored to represent the school as a Russian student in the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics.

"I hope to use the efforts of each actor to do this well and give beautiful performances to Chinese and foreign friends on the occasion of spring." She said.

Zhang Yimou, general director of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Winter Olympics, once said in an interview that the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics will tell the spirit and concept shared by all mankind from the perspective of "we", talk about the community of human destiny, and reflect China's cultural self-confidence; together to the future, it is "we" to the future together.

The cast of the opening ceremony reflects the power of "we". Alex said that in the shows he participated in, the actors were students from various colleges and universities in Beijing, and these young people from all over the world gathered at the "Bird's Nest", which in itself conveyed the Olympic spirit of "more unity".

Alex's "China complex" is closely related to the Olympics. At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, she was still in elementary school and saw on TV a huge "scroll" slowly unfolding, people strolling on the rising blue planet. She was deeply shocked by Chinese culture and planted the seeds of coming to China to study.

In 2015, China successfully won the right to host the 24th Winter Olympics, and Alex, who was in her third year of high school, wondered if she would have the opportunity to register for the competition if she was in China in 2022. "I never expected that one day I would be able to walk on the stage of the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics as an actor."

Alex, who had come to China to study, received a notice from Peking University in September last year to recruit cast members for the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics. Eventually, she became one of the school's 15 opening cast.

When asked how she felt about studying in China, Alex recalled that during last year's National Day, she and a group of Peking University students went to Xinjiang to investigate. The places they walked through and the people they met during the survey showed them an open, inclusive, and diverse Xinjiang, "which is very different from the reports we usually see in some Western media." ”

Peking University is more like Alex's "second home" in China. Alex used to use the WeChat circle of friends to show her daily life to friends and family: on campus, she sent blessings to the "ice new generation" at the Winter Olympic volunteer expedition ceremony, the Beijing Winter Olympics countdown to 20 days to issue a confident voice of "Peking University youth are ready"; outside the campus, she and singer Sun Nan recorded the MV of the Winter Olympic song "Beauty and Harmony" together, and learned and experienced with young people from all over the world in the International Youth Exchange Camp... She observed China, recorded China, and introduced China.

Alex loves Chinese history, art and literature, and she sees it as the best way to "read" China. She is also interested in the development of ice and snow sports in China. In the past six months, she has participated in many activities related to the Winter Olympics, witnessing China's vision of "driving 300 million people to participate in ice and snow sports" in Beijing's Qiaobo Ski Resort and Shijingshan Citizens' Ice and Snow Sports Center.

"I've seen a lot of venues, even in malls, with lots of kids skating and skiing. The school's unnamed lake ice rink is also full of skaters every day. Before coming to China, Alex did not expect to be able to skate, ski and curl in the "warm" Beijing, and ice and snow sports were very popular.

The opening of the Beijing Winter Olympics is imminent, and the busy Alex is nervous and excited. In her eyes, the Beijing Winter Olympics is a way to communicate with the world. Tonight, she will participate in this remarkable communication and dialogue at the opening ceremony with her enthusiasm, earnestness and blessing to show China to the world.

She also envisions her future self as a bridge between China and Russia. "After graduation, I want to stay in Beijing, whether I am engaged in foreign communication work or continue to do scientific research in school, I hope to become a messenger of Sino-Russian friendship, let Russians better understand China, and help China and Russia develop together."
