Sony's related performance report pointed out that as of December 31, 2021, the global shipments of the PlayStation 5 had reached 17.2 million units, while the PlayStation 4 shipped 116.8 million units.
From October 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021, shipments totaled 3.9 million units of the PS5 in three months, compared to 200,000 units of the PS4. Shipments were all down a bit compared to the same period last year.
PS5 games and PS4 gaming software decreased by 11.5 million copies from 104.2 million copies in the same period last year. First-party games sold 11.3 million copies, down 7.7 million copies from 19 million copies in the year-ago quarter. The digital version of the game accounted for 62% of total sales, up 9% from 53% last year.
As of December 31, 2021, PlayStation Plus had 48 million players, up 600,000 from 47.4 million users in the same period last year.
