author:China Youth Network

Beijing, February 3 (China Youth Daily, China Youth Network trainee reporter Yin Xining) On February 4, the opening ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing will be held, and the work of tens of thousands of volunteers has already begun.

In the Yanqing Area of the Winter Olympic Games, since January 23, nearly 2,000 volunteers have served on duty to provide time guarantee for two event venues, the Winter Olympic Village and related non-competition venues and facilities. More than 80% of these volunteers are college students, and many of them are "post-00s" volunteers.

Many of them are leaving their families for the First Time for the New Year, and most of them are celebrating the New Year in the Olympic Games for the first time.

The day before he took up his job: Dad said I was his pride

How hard is it to be a volunteer for the Winter Olympics? Wang Bing, a "post-00s" student at China University of Petroleum (Beijing), took nearly 10 months to come up with an answer. The "excellent student" in the eyes of the teacher and classmates was "pressed" three times to stop the button on the way to becoming a Volunteer for the Winter Olympics.

The first time, the Winter Olympics translation volunteer recruitment, Wang Bing in the interview session failed.

The second time, "I thought it was ok, but I still lost."

The third time, the teacher sent a notice message of defeat, attached "Considering you becoming a substitute volunteer, do you have the will, although you may not become the final volunteer..." After 24 minutes, Wang Bing replied with five words "Teacher I do."

The fourth time, during a geological expedition in the mountains, Wang Bing received a video interview notice of "regularization". The interviewer asked three questions in a row: "Is it acceptable not to go home for the New Year?" Afraid of the epidemic? Would you like to go to a hard job? ”

Wang Bing answered quickly, because she was willing to overcome all difficulties.

At the end of October 2021, she was selected as a volunteer in the field of transportation service assistant in Yanqing Winter Olympic Village.

Before the expedition, the school sent New Year greeting letters and New Year gifts to the parents of the Winter Olympic volunteers, along with the students' family letters.

Wang Bing thought for a long time at the desk, and he could not move his pen for a long time, "At that time, I felt a little homesick." She wanted to eat the pork and scallion dumplings wrapped by her mother, and remembered the hilarity of saying auspicious words and asking for red envelopes to the elders on the first day of the New Year every year.

The last time Wang Bing wrote a family letter was when he was a high school coming-of-age ceremony. At that time, her language was full of "bold words", and when she wrote about "growing up", she wanted to have responsibility and have a career.

This time, she had less ambition and more concern for her parents, "Now I'm older."

On the eve of entering the Winter Olympic Village, my parents received a letter from Wang Bing. The mother, who has always spoken a lot, sent a circle of friends, writing: "Open the envelope, the tears are uncontrollable, flowing down, there is pride in the tears, there is pride, more is miss ... There are parents and fathers in the family, I am cheering for the Winter Olympics in my hometown, and my daughter is cheering! ”

"Dad said that I was his pride, (before) did not hear him say it to my face", the father, who rarely took the initiative to express his feelings, gave Wang Bing the greatest encouragement.

Wang Bing said that it was her shyest video call, and her father suddenly said the words hidden in her heart, and she was really a little embarrassed.

On January 29, Wang Bing celebrated his 21st birthday at the Winter Olympic Village Volunteer Home. On the same day, she specially replaced the WeChat avatar with the volunteer avatar hand-painted by her classmates, "thanking herself for failing again and again but persisting again and again."

Day 6: Wait until the long-lost break

On the first day of the Lunar New Year, Li Shaopu waited for a long-lost rest time. When the Whole Country is celebrating the Chinese New Year, the boy who served the National Bobsleigh Center in the Yanqing Division of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics passed the New Year in a "full sleep" way.

The real busyness has not yet come, Li Shaopu has to "grab" time to recover physical fitness, relax muscles, and greet the official "ice sweeping" during the game with the fullest posture.

During the race, the National Bobsleigh Centre will host three events: bobsleigh, bobsleigh and steel frame bobsleigh. Li Shaopu's position is called "ice sweeper", serving the first 50-70 meters on the 1975-meter track, clearing the crushed ice caused by the friction of the snowmobile and the sleigh on the ice surface, ensuring that the next group of athletes can start on the smooth ice.

During the 21-day test match at the end of 2021 alone, he was involved in 184 hours of volunteer service. Every day, he wears "crampons" and sweeps the ice at least nearly two hundred times in the starting area of the track, which is equivalent to walking more than 25 laps on a standard track of 400 meters.

Li Shaopu can always talk about the "professional work" of ice sweeping, although he is good at long-distance running, not ice and snow sports, although he is good at leisure sports from the Capital Institute of Physical Education.

From "a little understanding" to "learning more and more deeply", Li Shaopu did not do less homework. In addition to the compulsory and elective courses on the information and knowledge management platform of the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, he also watched relevant events and news from the Internet, checked the information on the official website of the International Snowmobile Federation, and even asked the school's ice and snow students for advice.

All the preparation was for the one or two minutes of ice sweeping time. He has to get on the field quickly, sweep the ice, and withdraw between rounds.

In the eyes of many people, his work is no different from sweeping the floor, but this two-minute ice sweeping time will have an impact on the starting performance of the next group of athletes. "Look carefully at my sweep, one before and one left", Li Shaopu said when showing his ice sweeping picture, the first step of ice sweeping is to wear crampons to walk around, the second step is to take a big step to sweep, "the new people are afraid of sliding down, but also use broken steps to sweep, but athletes want to compete, there is no time to wait."

After the test match, he is now the leader of the eight-person ice sweeping team.

"I almost called 'Olympic bid'." Li Shaopu's winter Olympics must start from Beijing's first bid to host the Olympic Games on July 31, 2001. Li Shaopu was born five days before the IOC president, Samaranch, announced that Beijing would be awarded the right to host the 2008 Olympic Games.

During the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Li Shaopu's father served in the training venues of the Beijing Olympic Games. "One of our grandfathers and sons serves the Summer Olympics, and the other serves the Winter Olympics, which is the inheritance." He thought about it, and when he got married and had children in the future, he would have to tell his children personally, "Grandpa and father were once people who contributed to the Austrian operation."

On the field, Li Shaopu hopes to be as professional and fast as possible to buy time for athletes; off the field, the "post-00s" big boy thinks more about his family.

In the Spring Festival of previous years, Li Shaopu would always prepare Chinese New Year's Eve meals with his parents, do housework, and his mother would make steamed sea bass. Before the Spring Festival this year, Li Shaopu saw that his mother updated the circle of friends and said that he missed his son. "What I am most looking forward to in the New Year is to do housework with my parents and prepare Chinese New Year's Eve meals with my mother, and this year I can only tire her alone."

But he didn't like to talk too much about "missing", he remembered his father once said, "The country is in front, the home is in the back." This time, he is more looking forward to dedicating himself to the Winter Olympics.

Day 8: A foreign friend said to me, "Bao! bao! ”

"I've been thinking about it for a long time." Gao Haiqiang of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics made plans to take up the New Year in the Winter Olympics when he signed up for the Winter Olympics volunteers. For him, such a way of celebrating the New Year is "double happiness at the door".

Gao Haiqiang's father had just come to Beijing from his hometown in Zhangjiakou to work in time for Beijing's first bid to host the Olympic Games. Through his father's nagging, Gao Haiqiang could always imagine his father's excitement when Beijing had just successfully bid for the Olympic Games, "He rode his bicycle from Xicheng District Exhibition Hall Road all the way to Chang'an Avenue to celebrate."

Infected by his father, Gao Haiqiang has been waiting for the release of the volunteer recruitment order for the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing. "When I told my dad at the dinner table that he was going to volunteer for the Winter Olympics, he kept saying 'great, too good', and he was very excited."

Since Gao Haiqiang took up his post, the whole family has entered the "Winter Olympic rhythm". He was busy volunteering, and his parents were counting down the opening ceremony days at home, and his grandmother also read to him: The village in Zhangjiakou's hometown is recruiting Winter Olympic staff.

On the eve of the Spring Festival, the multi-functional study room of the volunteers in Yanqing Division became a temporary "Writing Spring Festival House", and volunteers can go to write Spring Festival and cut window flowers by appointment.

As soon as he heard the notice of the activity, Gao Haiqiang thought about it, and immediately rushed to the multi-functional learning room after the end of the volunteer service. "Tigers come and go to spend the new year, the mountains and rivers laugh and spread the good news", "round and rolling ice piers, red fire and snow melting", this boy who was called "piers and piers" by his classmates took less than 15 minutes to come up with two spring leagues.

on the day of Chinese New Year's Eve, after accepting Gao Haiqiang's help, the two foreign Olympic-related personnel gave him a thumbs up and kept saying "bao! bao! Gao Haiqiang was confused, "Does this mean that you must maintain social distancing and can't hug?" ”

After thinking about it for a while, when the foreign Austrian-related personnel said "excellent" in English, he reacted, and foreign friends were praising themselves for doing a good job.
