Why doesn't the iPhone recommend buying 64G, people come over and tell you that it is nothing more than three points

3 reasons to strongly discourage buying a 64GB iPhone, come on people: really eliminated

Is 64GB enough storage? This is a long-standing question. Android phone manufacturers have only come standard with 128GB of flash memory on flagship phones since 2019, such as the Xiaomi Mi 9, which cut 64GB of flash for the first time. From the iPhone 8 to the iPhone 12, 4 consecutive generations are equipped with 64GB of flash memory, which has caused a lot of dissatisfaction from fruit fans.

The questions don't change, but the answers change over time. In the era of the iPhone XR, 64GB of flash memory is still barely enough to use, and the budget is really not enough to really consider. But from 2022 onwards, the situation has been different.

You know, Apple has always been very stingy in terms of memory and flash memory, and it will not upgrade without upgrading. The iPhone 13 started at 128GB, which was unusual. All kinds of signs are showing one point: the 64GB iPhone has been completely eliminated, and it is really strongly recommended to buy it at this stage, for 3 reasons.

1, the APP volume will only continue to expand

Coincidentally, just recently, there is one thing that has caused a hot discussion in the digital circle. In the latest version, a chat software directly built into the Unreal Engine 4 game engine, the APP footprint reached 851.4MB. You know, in 2015, the APP took up less than 100MB of space. In just 7 years, the volume of the APP itself has expanded by nearly 8 times.

This is not just an isolated case, but a microcosm of the APP ecosystem. A closer look will reveal that if you look for an APP, its footprint and cache data may add up to 2GB. What's more, the longer it is used, the more cached data it accumulates. The size of the APP will only continue to expand, and in the face of this fact, "64GB is always enough" is just a joke.

2, even if the iCloud is turned on, it is not enough

Some people may feel that 64GB of storage space is definitely not enough, but if you use iCloud cloud space to store photos, videos, files, mobile phone flash memory is only used to install APP, then you can stick to it for a while. On this point, the people who came over told you with blood and tears experience: I'm sorry, this method will not work. The author bought the 128GB version, opened the 50GB iCloud, turned on the "optimize photo storage" function, used cloud space to transfer photos and videos, and the local flash memory was only used to install the APP.

Note that the APP installed in my mobile phone is not complicated, a total of two mobile games, one is the original god, one is a LOL mobile game, the other are normal *** commonly required software, and will not use the mobile phone to download large files. In the case of moderate and mild use, counting the 9.49GB occupied by the system itself, a total of 98.3GB of flash memory was used, and it was immediately close to full. This means one thing: If my phone only has 64GB of flash memory, I can only uninstall two games, and I have to sacrifice some common features to be enough.

3. Cleaning up the cache is useless

At this time, some people will say that the space occupied by the APP is divided into two parts, one part is the volume of the APP itself, and the other is the cache data. Moreover, the space occupied by cached data is often tens of times larger than the volume of the APP itself. This sentence is indeed true, taking a chat software as an example, the APP size is 490MB, and the cache data is 13.9GB. If I go into the software settings and empty all cached data, how much space can I save?

I found that 13.9GB of cache, there are 9.6GB of chat history that cannot be deleted, 2.7GB from trumpets, and only 1.5GB of cache data is cleanable "temporary data". Even if I don't bother to clean up the cache every few days, I can only reduce the cache data by 10%. A similar case is a shopping software that caches nearly 1GB of data, but only 150MB can be manually cleaned within the software. In short, cleaning up the APP cache is really troublesome, and the effect is not ideal.

All in all, because the size of the APP is constantly expanding, in 2022, the 64GB iPhone is really completely obsolete. Neither turning on iCloud nor cleaning up the cache can change that fact. Here to give you a suggestion, buy a new machine or buy a second mobile phone, less than 128GB of flash memory basically do not have to consider.
