Focusing on electrification, Daimler will change its name to Mercedes-Benz

Ola Kaellenius, CEO of Mercedes-Benz, said, "We do have a chance to improve our price-to-earnings ratio. In this regard, Tom Narayan, a European automotive analyst at Royal Bank of Canada Capital Markets, believes that "Tesla or Lucid started with 100% pure electric, and Mercedes-Benz must shift its existing internal combustion engine business to electric vehicles, which may be a limitation of Mercedes-Benz's recent increase in price-earnings ratio." ”

As early as February 2021, Daimler's board of directors and supervisory board decided to make fundamental adjustments to the group structure, planning to list Daimler trucks separately after independence, and in December of the same year, Daimler trucks were officially listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, marking the official "separation" of Daimler's luxury cars and truck divisions. Since then, in order to focus on the electrification transformation, the company has the idea of changing its name to Mercedes-Benz, which will be the third time in the company's history.

The company started with Daimler-Benz in 1926, the first time it changed its name to DaimlerChrysler in 1998-2007, and the second in 2007 when it sold Chrysler to Cerberus Capital Management as Daimler AG. As the world's largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles, the world's largest luxury car manufacturer and the second largest truck manufacturer, Daimler AG includes four business units, including Mercedes-Benz cars, Mercedes-Benz light commercial vehicles, Daimler trucks and Daimler Financial Services.

In terms of cooperation with Chinese enterprises, Daimler acquired the shares of BAIC Motor in 2013 and became a member of its board of directors; in February 2018, Geely Group became the largest shareholder of Daimler, holding 9.69% of the shares; in July 2019, BAIC Group invested in Daimler AG to become the third largest shareholder of the latter, and in December of the same year, BAIC Group increased its shares in Daimler to 9.98%, surpassing Geely to become Daimler's largest shareholder.
