After the launch of the RX6 project, Zongshen Seclon and the Ricardo team carried out a new development based on the Norton 1200cc V4 power platform to design this two-cylinder water-cooled eight-valve ND650 engine. It adopts the most cutting-edge thermodynamic research results, with advanced mechanism, excellent performance characteristics, its power data benchmarking international first-line brands are not too much, the maximum power of 52kW / 8500rpm (70.7 horsepower), the maximum torque of 62N.m / 7000rpm.

After improving the power platform, Ricciardo carried out a full package design for the RX6 vehicle, including the overall vehicle shape design, a full set of frame development, engine tuning, electronic control system integration, riding texture tuning, etc. This is also a new attempt made in China: with the help of international top design resources, to create an original model that not only meets the international standard, but also has a unique oriental aesthetic.

In April 2019, the Zongshen Secoron team went to the Ricciardo Design Center in Italy to conduct the first evaluation of the RX6 model prototype. After fully evaluating the use habits and scenes of the model in China, he and the Ricardo design team put forward optimization opinions, including appearance, man-machine control evaluation, maintenance analysis and testing, regulatory compliance inspection, detailed structural inspection and so on. Successfully passing this round of evaluation is only the first step in the long march of RX6 mass production and listing. Only the successful completion of this step can lay the foundation for the subsequent rigorous tests (laboratory tests, closed road tests, open road tests, etc.) for nearly 2 years.

At the same time as the first evaluation, the development team also made corresponding judgments on the use habits and application scenarios of the model in China, and Zongshen Jiyan and the Ricardo design team jointly proposed new optimization opinions, including appearance, man-machine control evaluation, maintenance analysis and testing, regulatory compliance inspection, detailed structure inspection and so on.

Successfully passing this round of evaluation is only the first step in the mass production and listing of RX6. Next, it will undergo more than 2 years of rigorous testing (laboratory testing, closed road testing, open road testing, etc.), laying a solid foundation for a real listing.

Of course, after the design is finalized, the car is also constantly being optimized and adjusted. The core element of everything is to meet the riding needs of the actual user, and to strike a balance between the use case and the performance of the vehicle design. There is a lot of learning, but there is also a lot of research and experimentation, including demand and performance, art and aesthetic habits, cost and technology content, regulations and convenience, and so on. Each link needs to be fully prejudged, then followed by subsequent verification, and then finalized through experimental data and test results.
