Tesla said it was still working to set a production schedule for the Berlin Gigafactory in Texas

ChinaZ.com Jan. 27 News: Tesla has updated production schedules for the company's two new production plants, the Berlin Gigafactory and the Texas Gigafactory. While Tesla still says each factory is very close to the time of first production, the automaker didn't give a specific date for starting production because approvals end up in the hands of the various jurisdictions where the plants are located.

The Berlin Gigafactory was scheduled to start production by the end of 2021, but the approval process was not advanced in time to achieve this goal. Instead, tesla has postponed initial production until 2022, based on shareholder information released prior to Tesla's fourth-quarter 2021 earnings call, and still has no definite start date.

Tesla said: "Equipment testing through the vehicle production process will begin at the end of 2021. We are still finalizing the manufacturing licenses of the local authorities, which will allow us to start delivering German-made vehicles in Europe, the first of which will be manufactured using 2170 batteries. ”

Unfortunately, the first Model Ys at the Gigafactory in Berlin won't be equipped with Tesla's 4680 batteries because they don't seem ready for initial production. In addition, Tesla shared a photo of a seat mounted on its structural battery pack, which was recently added to the Model Y user manual.

In Texas, Tesla continues to wait for final certification of the factory-produced Model Y vehicle. Tesla said it will begin delivering the Model Y shortly after earning that certification.

The photos Tesla shares below are the exterior of the Texas Gigafactory, the texas Gigafactory's convention, and the paint shop.
