The Berlin plant was originally scheduled to start production by the end of 2021, but the approval process was not advanced in time so that this goal was postponed several times, according to tesla's information released before the fourth quarter of 2021 earnings call, Tesla postponed initial production to 2022, but still has no fixed start date.
And, it's worth noting that the first Model Ys produced at the Berlin factory won't be equipped with Tesla's 4680 batteries, as they don't seem ready for the new vehicle yet, though Tesla is also updating new photos of the Berlin factory's production lines and quality checks.

At its Texas plant in the United States, Tesla is also waiting for the final certification of the Model Y vehicle, and Tesla said it will begin delivering the Model Y after obtaining that certification.
And according to Musk's shareholder report in the fourth quarter of 2021: Tesla's Model Y produced at the Texas factory will be equipped with a 4680 battery pack (the 4680 battery is designed to revolutionize the lithium-ion battery used in electric vehicles: 46 mm wide, 80 mm long, energy density increased by five times, battery life can be increased by 16%, power output increased by six times, the battery has been in development since 2020), The 4680 battery, in addition to its powerful performance, actually improves the density and structural integrity of the battery pack, and as for concerns that high energy will cause safety issues, Musk also said that it will only make the vehicle safer, and that it has already improved the crash safety level score in its product line.
Finally, according to Drew Baglino, Tesla's senior vice president of powertrain, the 4680 battery will not be the limiting factor in our 2022 production plan, and he also expects the first vehicles equipped with the 4680 battery to be delivered by the end of the first quarter of 2022.
