In December 2013, the Tibetan-to-Chinese translation project of Gesar, a major cultural project of the Tibet Autonomous Region, which was presided over by the Institute of Ethnic Studies of the Tibet Autonomous Region Academy of Social Sciences, was launched in Tibet.

Chen Fan, head of the leading group of the Tibet-to-Chinese project of the "Gesar" major cultural project in the Tibet Autonomous Region, said that the "Gesar" Tibetan-to-Chinese series of books has a total of 33 volumes. At the beginning of the project, the institute organized experts from Beijing, Qinghai and Tibet to unify the translation of terminology and terminology, formulate translation rules and project processes, and compile and print relevant reference books.
