Xining, 7 Jan (Xinhua) -- On 7 January, this reporter learned from the Propaganda Department of the Banma County CPC Committee of Qinghai Province that in order to protect and develop the Culture of Banma's "Gesar", the Gesar Epic Protection and Research Center of Qinghai Province has set up two "Gesar Cultural Protection and Inheritance Bases" in Banma County.

Banma County, located in Guoluo Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province, belongs to the core area of Sanjiangyuan Protection, and is also the main water source of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, and the Marco River Forest Area is the largest forest farm in Qinghai Province and the highest natural forest natural primary forest area in China, in the eastern section of Sanjiangyuan.

According to reports, the epic of Gesar has more than 1 million lines of poetry and more than 20 million words, exceeding the sum of the world's five major epics, and the content is still growing. In 2006, China officially inscribed it on the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage lists, and in 2009, the "Gesar (S)Er epic tradition" was selected into UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Qinghai Guoluo Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture is the main birthplace of Gesar culture, known as the "hometown of Chinese Gesar culture", and is one of the areas with the richest cultural resources, the most distinctive forms of expression, the most complete cultural characteristics, the largest number of rap inheritors and the most extensive influence in China. In 2021, the Gesar Epic Protection and Research Center of Qinghai Province went to Banma in Goluo Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture to conduct investigation and research, and visited the folk "Gesar" art group and the study center. Based on the achievements and influences made in the protection and inheritance of Gesar culture, the plaque of "Gesar Cultural Protection and Inheritance Base" was awarded to the Gesar Art Troupe of Jiangritang Township Folk and the Lotus Temple of King Mardo Gesar.
