On January 27, according to the announcement on the official website of the State Administration for Market Regulation, Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. and GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan starting from March 25, 2022 with the State Administration for Market Regulations in accordance with the requirements of the Regulations on the Administration of the Recall of Defective Automobile Products and the Implementation Measures for the Administration of the Recall of Defective Automobile Products.

Toyota recalled a total of 323,915 vehicles, according to the announcement.

It is reported that Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. will recall some Corolla vehicles produced between March 23, 2020 and July 2, 2021, for a total of 162,301 vehicles. GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. will recall a total of 161,614 Leiling vehicles manufactured between April 8, 2020 and November 19, 2021.

The vehicles within the scope of this recall due to the engine ignition coil manufacturing problems, resulting in some of the ignition coil inside the 1 stage coil bracket size deviation, the 1 stage coil may be in contact with the center core, the insulation between the copper wire and the center core in the coil is reduced, in extreme cases, the engine operation may cause a short circuit of the 1 level coil and the center core, so that the fuse is fused, cutting off the power supply to the spark plug, causing the vehicle to stop in driving, increasing the risk of accidents in the vehicle, and there is a safety hazard.

Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. and GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. will replace the modified ignition coils free of charge for vehicles within the scope of the recall to eliminate safety hazards.

In addition, Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. and GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. will notify users of the recall through registration letters and other forms, and FAW Toyota and GAC Toyota dealers will take the initiative to contact the users of vehicles within the scope of the recall and make an appointment to arrange free vehicle maintenance.
