On January 26, the exhibition "Discover Liangzhu" opened in the exhibition area of the Tomb of the King of Nanyue King Museum in Guangzhou. Sponsored by the Nanyue Wang Museum, the Zhejiang Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, and the Liangzhu Museum, and co-organized by the Guangdong Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, the exhibition exhibits 296 exquisite cultural relics ( sets ) , including 11 first-class cultural relics ( sets ) . The exhibition will run until May 20.

Three-dimensional restoration of Liangzhu style 5,000 years ago
Liangzhu culture is an archaeological culture of the late Neolithic period of the mainland, dating back to 5300-4300 years ago, with the two towns of Liangzhu and Bottle Kiln in Hangzhou as the core, distributed in a vast area of more than 36,000 square kilometers centered on the Taihu Lake basin in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Because this culture was first discovered in Liangzhu, in 1959 the famous archaeologist Mr. Xia Nai named it "Liangzhu Culture". On July 6, 2019, the ruins of Liangzhu Ancient City were inscribed on the World Heritage List, becoming the 55th World Heritage Site in China, marking the recognition of China's 5,000-year history of civilization by the international community.

He Shaowei, exhibition department of the Nanyue King Museum, introduced that "Discovering Liangzhu" is the third exhibition of the "Discovery Series" of the Nanyue King Museum after "Discovering Xing Kiln" and "Discovering Yue Kiln", through the three units of "State of Civilization", "Kingdom of God King" and "Ancient and Modern Road", together with the audience, continue to discover the beauty of Chinese civilization and roam the holy land that proves the history of Chinese civilization for more than 5,000 years - Liangzhu.
Different from the past, this exhibition innovatively uses the form of "physical + digital" dual exhibition combination, set up a separate image exhibition hall, and tells the audience about the construction of Liangzhu Ancient City and water conservancy system; at the same time, the exhibition line is deeply combined with multimedia, and a video QR code is added throughout the process, and a virtual exhibition hall is built with rich video data, which restores the Liangzhu style of the water town of Zeguo 5,000 years ago for the audience.

Liangzhu culture is one of the important sources of Chinese jade culture. The six types of jade ware of "琮, 璧, 璜, Gui, Zhang, and 琥", the so-called "Liu Rui", are symbols of the jade ritual system after the Shang Zhou Dynasty, and the first three have appeared in the Liangzhu culture.

Historically, there have been many interpretations of the connotation of jade, such as running through heaven and earth, symbolizing ancestors or gods. Liangzhu ancestors created a unified spiritual belief, the divine emblem is the motif of the Liangzhu jade pattern, but also the liangzhu ancestors commonly respected the deity, it takes the jade as the main carrier, in various forms in the jade is a large number of expressions.

Yubi is a large vessel in the Liangzhu jade ceremonial vessel, and it is also a ceremonial vessel commonly used in ancient China to sacrifice to the heavens or accompany funerals. A total of 71 pieces of jade bi have been excavated from the tomb of King Wen of Nanyue in Guangzhou, with a variety of shapes and exquisite ornamentation, among which the D54 jade bi excavated in the coffin head box of the tomb owner's coffin room was determined to be the visual source of the decorative pattern of the medals of the 2022 Winter Olympics. The Liangzhu jade such as Chun and Bi on display and the jade excavated from the tomb of King Wen of Nanyue represented by Yu Bi reflect the inheritance and development of jade culture, but also show the origin and evolution of the ritual system, providing the audience with different perspectives to understand traditional Chinese culture.

It is worth mentioning that the radiation influence of the Liangzhu culture as far as Lingnan, many prehistoric sites in the Lingnan area have found cultural relics similar to or almost identical with the Liangzhu culture artifacts, of which the Shixia site is the most. The "Shixia culture" is named after the Shixia site found in Maba Town, Qujiang District, Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province, about 5,000-4,000 years ago, similar in age to the Liangzhu culture. The jade qun, jade ring, jade cone, stone tungsten and pottery ear pot excavated from the Shixia site have obvious Liangzhu characteristics.
