However, with the upgrading of automobile consumption, the market demand for small SUVs is decreasing. According to the statistics compiled by the editors of the car purchase network, the wholesale sales of the small SUV market in December 2021 were 173,000 units, which was basically the same as the sales volume of the previous month, down 20.1% year-on-year.
In December, mg ZS topped the sales of small SUVs with sales of 23,292 units. This sales figure of MG ZS belongs to wholesale sales (including exports), and retail sales are only 1167 units.
The Honda XR-V and Binzhi ranked second and third, respectively, with sales of 20,895 and 18,071 units, respectively. Among them, XR-V sales fell by 12.1% year-on-year, while Binzhi sales increased by 23.5% year-on-year.
Geely Binyue ranked fourth with sales of 17,986 vehicles, up 16.7% year-on-year. The above four models are the "head" models of small SUVs, with a total sales volume of 80,244 units, accounting for 46% of the market share of small SUV sales.
The fifth to seventh small SUVs are all from independent brands, of which BYD Yuan New Energy sold 8577 vehicles, Chery Tiggo 3 sold 8473 vehicles, and Tiggo 5x sold 7896 vehicles.
The Audi Q2L sold 6,320 units, ranking eighth, behind the XR-V and Binzhi in sales of the joint venture small SUVs. Toyota C-HR, which also belongs to the joint venture brand, sold 4,080 units, and Toyota Yize sold 3,529 vehicles.
Other self-owned small SUVs with better sales include: Nezha V sold 5280 units, Trumpchi GS3 sold 3997 units, and Lynk & Co 06 sold 3976 units.
