On January 20, 2022, China Telecom China Mobile and China Unicom simultaneously released the operating data for December 2021. Statistics show that by the end of 2021, the number of 5G package users in mainland China will exceed 729 million.
China Telecom's mobile subscribers in December 2021 increased by 490,000 to a total of 372.43 million, of which the number of 5G package users increased by 9.04 million to a total of 187.8 million. The number of wired broadband subscribers increased by 390,000 in the month, reaching a total of 169.71 million.
In December 2021, China Mobile's mobile business increased by 109,000 customers to a total of 956,892 million, while the number of wired broadband business net increased by 459,000, bringing the total number of customers to 240,106 million. The number of 5G package customers increased by 12.421 million in the month. As of the end of December 2021, the number of 5G package customers has reached 386.8008 million.
In December 2021, China Unicom and its subsidiaries saw a net decrease of 225,000 mobile outbound subscribers to a cumulative total of 317,115 million; a net increase of 5,384,000 5G package subscribers in December, reaching 154,928 million; and a net increase of 212,000 fixed-line broadband subscribers in December, reaching a total of 95,046,000.
