After the glory is bleak: the Green Gang tycoon Du Yuesheng is faced with three choices, why did he go to Hong Kong in the end?

In April 1949, when the People's Liberation Army was triumphant all the way and was about to march south of the Yangtze River with unstoppable momentum, in the world metropolis of Shanghai, many chaebol giants and gangsters could not sit still, and they were all facing a major choice in life: stay, or go far away?

Ordinary people naturally welcome the early arrival of the People's Liberation Army, and those who have ridden on the heads of the people in the past few decades naturally hope that "liberation" will be later and later.

Du Yuesheng, the leader of the Green Gang, was naturally among these people who made "multiple choice questions", this was the seventh time in his life, and the first six times, he made a relatively correct decision:

Go out of the house to sell fruits, turn to the "big tree" under the golden rong door, decisively set up the "Sanxin company" to accumulate huge wealth, fight with the golden rong but do not lose harmony, refuse to be a traitor during the War of Resistance, go to Chongqing, and return to Shanghai to regain its might.

And this time, the choice seems to be more difficult to make up than the previous six times.

"Rolling water in the east of the Yangtze River, the waves exhaust the hero", Du Yuesheng does not know whether he is a hero, perhaps "Owl Xiong" is more appropriate.

But he knew that many people hated him, people in the jianghu could not help themselves, in order to survive, or for their own selfish interests, he Du Yuesheng did too many immoral things, there were many illegal things, such as selling, transporting, selling opium, and also opened a tobacco shop, how many people were harmed, and caused his (her) family to be destroyed!

Many poor people, who were once very rich, were later killed by du Yuesheng and became poor, hating that they could not "eat their flesh and sleep on their skins"!

The same opponents on the rivers and lakes, or explicit or implicit, although they have been dominating Shanghai for decades, the so-called "friends" and "brothers" are many, but Du Yuesheng deeply understands that when seeking common profits, it is called brothers and brothers, hello and hello, at the critical moment, the dagger short knife may come from any direction.

After the glory is bleak: the Green Gang tycoon Du Yuesheng is faced with three choices, why did he go to Hong Kong in the end?

The more we reach this critical juncture, the turning point of history, the more unreliable those brothers in the jianghu become!

Jin Rong, that is his "benefactor", plus "big brother", with the increase of his Du Yuesheng's strength, the two people have not changed from the honeymoon period to a cold appearance!

As for the Communist Party, although he was repeatedly persuaded to stay, stay in Shanghai, and make his own contributions to the new China in the future, Du Yuesheng was still afraid that in the coup d'état of 1927, du Yuesheng's hands were stained with the blood of party members and workers, and this old historical account could not be erased by anyone, and this old account might kill him in the future.

Thinking of these things, Du Yuesheng's heart trembled, and a firm thought burst out of his mind: He absolutely could not stay on the mainland.

Then there are two places left: Taiwan, Hong Kong.

At this time, the Kuomintang side had already begun to build a small base in Taiwan and was ready for retreat, and Chiang Kai-shek repeatedly urged Du Yuesheng to go to Taiwan.

Although Chiang Kai-shek was still on the mainland at this time, with the successive defeats of the Nationalist army, the collapse of the Chiang family dynasty was a foregone conclusion.

Taiwan, to go or not to go? Du Yuesheng did not think about it for long, and then made up his mind:

Don't go

。 Many people are not quite sure why Du Yuesheng made this decision, and there are three reasons for this.

First, a "red post" in Du Yuesheng's hand was missing.

This is not an ordinary post, but a "prayer post" submitted to the master when the disciples of the Green Gang join the gang, which indicates the time, place, and names of the master and apprentice when they joined the Green Gang.

And Du Yuesheng's particularly important post, there was a name written impressively:

Jiang Zhiqing

。 This "Jiang Zhiqing" is not an ordinary person, he is Chiang Kai-shek who later influenced the direction of history, and "Zhiqing" is the name he used in his early student days.

After the glory is bleak: the Green Gang tycoon Du Yuesheng is faced with three choices, why did he go to Hong Kong in the end?

It is true that Chiang Kai-shek once worshiped under Du Yuesheng's door, and later through his unique vision, skillful wrists, he walked out of the Green Gang and turned to Sun Yat-sen's command, gradually gaining Sun Yat-sen's trust and achieving legend.

At the time of the Northern Expedition, Chiang Kai-shek had been promoted to commander-in-chief, and Du Yuesheng intended to return the post to Chiang Kai-shek, but he still wanted to hold a ceremony according to the gang rules, but the trip was delayed.

During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, before Du Yuesheng left Shanghai, he deliberately put this red post in a safe and handed it to a mr. bookkeeper he trusted.

A few years later, after the victory of the War of Resistance, Du Yuesheng returned to Shanghai, and he sent people to find everything else in the safe, and nothing else in it was lost, except for the lack of the post, and even more strange things, the accounting mr. actually died inexplicably.

With decades of experience in the jianghu, Du Yuesheng is very sure:

The post was taken away by Chiang Kai-shek.

Whether it is the Central Command or the Military Command, with their means, taking away the post is a breeze. The reason for taking away this post is obviously that Jiang Zhong does not want to keep it in Du Yuesheng's hands, and he is afraid that this thing will become a weapon that Du Yuesheng wants to blackmail him.

He regarded Du Yuesheng too flatly, and if Du Yuesheng really had the intention of blackmailing, he would not have waited so long. Du Yuesheng had already made up his mind to find a suitable time to return this post to Chiang Kai-shek.

Taking the initiative is completely different from being stolen and giving Du Yuesheng a feeling. Looking at the open safe, Du Yuesheng had a big pimple in his heart.

Second: I felt greatly humiliated

When Du Yuesheng left Shanghai during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he did not want to defect to the Japanese, and he was a man who could use his sword against his own compatriots and class enemies, but he resolutely did not do anything about betraying his ancestors. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Du Yuesheng also used his influence to mobilize and order his disciples to oppose the Japanese, and at the same time donated materials and money for the War of Resistance, fulfilling the obligation of Chinese.

Du Yuesheng was also a man with a strong sense of vanity, and he attached particular importance to political titles, when he was "four. After the "12" incident, Chiang Kai-shek gave him a false post of "major general senator", and he blossomed, and after the victory of the War of Resistance, he immediately returned to Shanghai, just to participate in the political campaign in Shanghai.

In his opinion, with his twenty-year friendship with Chiang Kai-shek and Chiang Kai-shek's previous promises, du Yuesheng would certainly be able to become a mayor of Shanghai, or a position such as mayor of Shanghai, or speaker of the municipal council.

Wan Wanwan did not expect that when Du Yuesheng arrived in Shanghai by train, no one was present at the grand welcome ceremony that was scheduled to be held by the state government, and the state government did not even send out a small ordinary public official. What made Du Yuesheng even more angry was that he stepped off the train and found insulting slogans such as "Du Yuesheng is a rogue leader" hanging at the exit of the station.

If Chiang Kai-shek did not show such a thing, who would dare to do such a thing? Du Yuesheng's resentment toward Chiang Kai-shek deepened.

Third: Aizi was imprisoned by Chiang Ching-kuo and placed in a detention center

In 1948, Chiang Ching-kuo's "tiger fighting" operation to rectify Shanghai's financial order arrested Du Weiping, Du Yuesheng's most beloved third son, and put him in a detention center for three days.

Of course, Du Yuesheng understood that his son did indeed have unclean places and was doing some things that harmed the country and the people, but Du Weiping's behavior was really "a small witch seeing a big witch" compared to the behavior of the "four major families".

Other things, he Du Yuesheng can be more generous, and even when he is humiliated when he returns to Shanghai, he can not go to the eyes and report, and the arrest of his son has stimulated him quite a lot.

After the glory is bleak: the Green Gang tycoon Du Yuesheng is faced with three choices, why did he go to Hong Kong in the end?

He summed up such a famous saying: Jiang Shi is to put me in the pot that night, and throw it away after using it!

Is it true that as Du Yuesheng said, Chiang Kai-shek abandoned him and did not need him at all? Of course not, with Du Yuesheng's power and influence, Chiang Kai-shek of course hopes that he can continue to be used by me, but he prides himself on being a political leader, and he does not want Du Yuesheng to be oblivious, he hopes that Du Yuesheng understands a truth: the people do not fight with officials, and the underworld does not compete with the white road.

But from decades of dealings with Chiang Kai-shek, Du Yuesheng gradually saw the true face of this political figure: he was definitely a selfish, cruel, and donkey-killer, and it would not be good to follow him.

Interestingly, just when Du Yuesheng was still holding a little expectation, the Kuomintang's mouthpiece newspaper, the Central Daily, actually published an editorial entitled "A New Page in the History of the Party," in which the spearhead was directed at Du Yuesheng:

Comprador hooligans and local tycoons and inferior gentry are the scum of the times and should be eliminated... That rogue leader has almost become the emperor of Shanghai, which is our unwise way of raising tigers, and now we can't compromise any longer...

Seeing this sharp editorial, Du Yuesheng chose to live in Hong Kong without hesitation, and he no longer wanted to have too much contact with Chiang, until his death on August 16, 1951, Du Yuesheng never met Chiang again, let alone set foot on Taiwan's land.

Before Du Yuesheng died, he still remembered his hometown of Shanghai, hoping that one day, his sons would be able to move his bones back to Shanghai, and he wanted to accompany his parents to sleep in the land of his hometown.
