In fact, Jin Rong was not stupid at all, he was more than 80 years old when he chose to stay in Shanghai, he wanted to return to the roots of the fallen leaves, did not want to die in his hometown, and he finally came out to sweep the street once or twice, it was only a symbolic explanation to those angry people, not really became a cleaner, sweeping the street every day.
Although many people know that Du Yuesheng went to Hong Kong, few people know that Du Yuesheng's last words on his deathbed were to return to Takahashi and be buried next to his parents, but in the end he did not get his wish. On May 1, 1949, Du Yuesheng took his family to Hong Kong, which was his second time in Hong Kong. In 1937, when Shanghai fell, he went there once, and every time he went, he was actually called Jin Rong, after all, he entered the Huang Mansion, and after being reused by Jin Rong and his wife, he developed step by step.
However, Jin Jinrong did not leave Shanghai twice, and in 1937, at the age of 69, he chose to stay out of Shanghai, did not do things for the Japanese, or did not lose his national integrity. This time he was already in his 80s, and he didn't want to leave, he said: "I am already a fast-forward coffin person, I have been in Shanghai all my life, and the bones do not want to be left in the countryside and die in the field." ”
Second, the golden Rong swept the street and reformed itself through labor.
Jin Rong's idea at that time was very simple, he was already 81 years old, to say that it was ugly, one foot had already stepped into the coffin, and he fell down halfway through. Why did he have to die in a foreign country, it was better to be in Shanghai, and at that time, his brothers Yang Hu and Madame Zhang Shizhao both said to him that "there is no blame for the past".
Jin Rong is reluctant to leave Shanghai, and I think there is another factor that Lin Guisheng, the original partner who was disappointed by him, has also been in Shanghai. He could not get Lin Guisheng's forgiveness, so he planted hundreds of osmanthus trees in the Huang family garden, and it is said that all the varieties that can be bought on the market have entered this garden, and he still can't forget Lin Guisheng's bits and pieces of accompanying him.
At the beginning of the liberation, Jin Rong's days were still very leisurely, and he continued to do three-piece sets every day: smoking a big cigarette, rubbing mahjong, and going to the bathhouse.
However, soon after the suppression of the counter-revolution in 1951, everyone also found that Jin Rong had not left, and was still in Shanghai, and many people wrote to the government to demand that Jin Rong be severely punished, and he still did a lot of bad things before liberation. It was just that at that time, Jin Rong was already 83 years old, and his status was also special, and the Shanghai Municipal Government thought about it, so he asked him to publish the "Confession of Golden Rong" in the newspaper, that is, the book of repentance.
Then there is a scene that we are all familiar with, Jin Rong appeared in front of the Shanghai Great World to sweep the street and transform himself. In fact, this is only a symbolic act, giving an account to the angry masses, but also an account for their past evil deeds.
On June 20, 1953, at the age of 85, Jin Rong died in the Huang Mansion, completing his legendary life. Gu Zhuxuan, a tycoon of the Qing Gang, bought him a coffin and buried him in the cemetery under the Lingyan Mountain in Suzhou, and his long-cherished wish of returning the golden glory and falling leaves to the roots was still satisfied.
