GAC cooperated with CRRC Times to lay out the R&D and production of core semiconductors for new energy vehicles

IT Home January 20 news, according to the official news of GAC Group, recently, GAC Parts Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of GAC Group, and Zhuzhou CRRC Times Semiconductor Co., Ltd. jointly established Guangzhou Qinglan Semiconductor Co., Ltd., with a registered capital of 300 million yuan. It is reported that Qinglan Semiconductor will carry out independent technology research and development and industrialization application around the field of new energy vehicle independent IGBT (insulated gate bipolar transistor), becoming the first new energy vehicle independent IGBT investment project in South China.

According to reports, the project plans to settle in GAC Intelligent Network New Energy Automobile Industrial Park, with a total investment of about 463 million yuan, one planning, two phases of investment, the first phase of the planned production capacity of 300,000 cars IGBT modules per year, planned to be put into production in 2023; the second phase of the planned production capacity of 300,000 cars IGBT modules per year, planned to be put into production in 2025. After the completion of the project, the total production capacity can be achieved 600,000 pieces / year.

IT Home learned that IGBT, as a key component of electric energy conversion, is an important part of the electric control system of new energy vehicles, on-board air conditioning systems, and charging pile inverters. In recent years, the field of IGBT modules in the application of vehicle electrification has achieved rapid development, which has promoted the improvement of the level of electrification of new energy vehicles. However, for a long time, the development of domestic IGBT semiconductor modules is still in its infancy, and the domestic production rate is low. China's IGBT market has always been monopolized by foreign companies, and domestic automobile companies and drive system companies are in a long-term outsourcing situation, facing the dilemma of "long cycle, high price, and no guarantee", which hinders the development of strategic emerging industries in the mainland, especially restricts the development of the new energy automobile industry.
