Three Kingdoms (25): After Sun Jian attacked and captured Luoyang, did he have any jade seals hidden? Why?

It is said that Sun Jian solved the problem of military food and began to attack Luoyang.

At this time, Dong Zhuo had not left, for many reasons, such as Chang'an City was still under construction, wood and the like had to be transported from his hometown, the gold and silver in Luoyang City had not yet been moved, some bronzes were still to be turned into small money, the Kwantung Rebel Army had not been nominally disbanded, and he had to sit in his own hands to buy time for the rear and so on.

Fortunately, Chang'an had Wang Yun, and Dong Zhuo was able to concentrate on the military.

In fact, the Kwantung rebel army has already died in name only, the sour jujube generals have dispersed unhappily, the Yuan brothers have been tit-for-tat for "establishing another emperor", and the relationship between Liu Biao and Yuan Shu has become irreconcilable, and Han Fu has a grudge because of the popularity of his younger brother Yuan Shao...

If Dong Zhuo paid a little attention to intelligence, then history would be a different story.

Therefore, to hold the Son of Heaven hostage, we must have strong military ability, we must have a tough political skill, and at the same time, we must have a pair of keen eyes.

At present, what Dong Zhuo urgently needs to solve is to deal with the attack of Sun Jian, a "small man", and Sun Jian obviously did not care about the actions of the "allies" and was bent on crusading against Dong Zhuo.

Three Kingdoms (25): After Sun Jian attacked and captured Luoyang, did he have any jade seals hidden? Why?

First, refuse Houlu

In early 191, Dong Zhuo sent the general Li Dai (李傕) to woo Sun Jian, who wanted to marry Sun Jian as his sons and daughters, and asked Sun Jian to make a list of those who wanted to be assassins and taishou, and then appoint them on the table.

In the face of such rich conditions, Sun Jian was not moved, he said: "Zhuo has no way against the heavens, overthrows the royal family, and now does not destroy the three tribes of Ru, and the county shows the four seas, then I will die without blindness, will I be with Naihe and evil?" ”

It can be seen that at this time, Sun Jian, at a small level, wanted to kill Dong Zhuo, and to a large extent, he wanted to support the Han Room, which was definitely the work of a hero.

However, because during the Pingxi Liang Rebellion, Sun Jian had suggested to Zhang Wen to kill Dong Zhuo, and Dong Zhuo held a grudge against him, so some friends believed that Sun Jian's rejection of Dong Zhuo was to see through Dong Zhuo's plan, and if he agreed to strike, he would be killed.

This is indeed a possibility, but I still think that this is not the main reason for Sun Jian's crusade against Dong Zhuo, first, Sun Jian has been fighting rebellion all his life, and he will not tolerate Dong Zhuo's kind of rebellious thief, and second, Zhang Wen has not been killed, if Dong Zhuo really hates them, with Zhang Wen's reputation and status, he would have gone to see the King of Yan long ago, and would not have lived until Dong Zhuo retired to Chang'an.

In fact, this is also one of the reasons why Sun Jian abandoned Yuan Shao and chose Yuan Shu, Yuan Shao wanted to make Liu Yu emperor, no matter what Yuan Shu's real purpose was, he once scolded Yuan Shao for this matter, and said that "he was full of sincerity and was determined to eliminate Dong Zhuo", which was in line with Sun Jian's ambitions. I talked about Sun Jian's choice in the previous article, and here is a small supplement.

After rejecting Dong Zhuo, Sun Jian marched into Otani and prepared to harden Dong Zhuo.

Three Kingdoms (25): After Sun Jian attacked and captured Luoyang, did he have any jade seals hidden? Why?

Second, the great destruction of Dong Zhuo

"(Sun Jian) marched into Otani, ninety miles away from Luo. Zhuo zi came out and fought with Jian Jian among the tombs. Zhuo was defeated and left, but he was in the pond and gathered troops in Shaanxi. ”

This is the whole process of the "Battle of Otani", and it is written very simply, but this is also the first time since the "anti-Dong in the world" that the troops led by Dong Zhuo personally were defeated.

Daguguan, located in the town of Koudian, southeast of Luoyang, was established in 184 AD to suppress the Yellow Turban Rebellion, ninety miles from Luoyang. During the Qin and Han Dynasties, "six feet is a step, three hundred steps is a mile", one foot is about 0.231 meters, converted down, ninety miles is nearly forty kilometers or so.

As one of the main routes to Luoyang, Otani Pass has many stories, such as our founding lieutenant general Pi Dingjun, who fought against the Japanese here in 1944.

As for the "Zhuling", it should refer to the southeast mausoleum area of the Eastern Han Dynasty Imperial Mausoleum, which is located probably north of Otani Pass.

There are six imperial tombs in the southeastern mausoleum area, namely the Xianjie Mausoleum of Liu Zhuang of the Han Ming Emperor, the JingLing Tomb of the Han Zhang Emperor Liu Zhao, the Shen Tomb of the Han and Emperor Liu Zhao, the Kang Tomb of the Han Emperor Liu Long, the Jing Tomb of the Han Emperor Liu Zhan, and the XuanLing Tomb of the Han Huan Emperor Liu Zhi.

There were fourteen emperors in the Eastern Han Dynasty, some of which are written as thirteen emperors, most of which ignore the "former" Young Emperor Liu Yi, who, like Liu Yi, who was deposed by Dong Zhuo, was also the "Young Emperor", distinguished by "front" and "back". However, these two "young emperors" were really pitiful, and they did not even have an imperial tomb after their deaths.

In addition, the imperial tomb of Liu Xie, the Emperor of Han Xian, is in Xuchang, while the other five imperial tombs are located in and around the Beiqi Mountains, collectively known as the Northeast Mausoleum, including the original mausoleum of Liu Xiu, the Emperor of Han'an, the Gong Mausoleum of Liu Hu of the Han'an Emperor, the Xian Mausoleum of Liu Bao of the Han Shun Emperor, the HuaiLing Tomb of Liu Bing, the Han Chong Emperor Liu Bing, and the WenLing Tomb of the Han Ling Emperor Liu Hong.

Zhuling had been excavated by Dong Zhuo, and now it was baptized by war, and Sun Jian repaired the imperial tomb after the war, first, to return a decent face to the Han family's former emperor, and second, to make some compensation for this "unreasonable" move.

Of course, this is all an afterthought, from the point of view of defeating Dong Zhuo, Sun Jian's ability is very strong, and soon, he will prove himself again.

Third, defeat Lü Bu

Just recorded, there is a sentence behind it, that is, "Firmly enter Luoyang, hit Lü Bu, and break away." The Book of later Han is written in slight detail, saying that Sun Jian and Lü Bu fought at the Xuanyang City Gate in Luoyang.

In short, after Sun Jian entered Luoyang, he fought with Lü Bu, and Lü Bu did not fight and ran away.

Lü Bu is known as the first in the world, and he will actually be defeated by Sun Jian? In fact, in Yangren City, he had already lost once, so did he want to be relegated to the second place? It is not easy to say, everyone comments on the ranking of military generals, I am afraid that it has little to do with military ability, as for the degree of bravery, it can only be corroborated, there is a saying in the historical data that "Lü Bu among people", but see Lü Bu's record, it is really very scummy ...

Among the many military generals, Sun Jian is not the top class in terms of military talent, but when it comes to bravery, it is absolutely worthy of the number one, and the only regret is that he died too early.

After the capture of Luoyang, Sun Jian saw the tragic image of "the old capital was empty, and there were no smoke and fires in hundreds of miles", and he couldn't help but "feel sad and drooling", so he ordered people to clean the royal imperial temple, sacrifice pigs, cattle and sheep, and at the same time fill in and repair the tombs excavated by Dong Zhuo.

From this point, it can be seen that Sun Jian is still a good person, at least showing the appearance of a loyal subject.

However, when Sun Jian cleaned Luoyang, in the well of the Zhen Official's Office in the south of the city, he found the Chuanguo Jade Seal, and some people said that this was the heavenly gratitude to Sun Jian for respecting the imperial family, but judging from the subsequent development of events, it was Sun Jian's greatest misfortune.

Three Kingdoms (25): After Sun Jian attacked and captured Luoyang, did he have any jade seals hidden? Why?

4. Conceal the jade seal

"Inoue, the zhenguan in the south of the jianjun city, dan has five colors of qi, and the army is shocked, and no one dares to draw it." Jianren entered the well, probed the Han Chuan National Seal, Wen Yue 'ordained by heaven, both Shou Yongchang', square circle four inches, shang niu jiao five dragons, the upper corner is missing. At the beginning, Huangmen Zhang Rang and others made trouble, robbed Tianzi out of the way, scattered left and right, and the seal holder threw himself into the well. ”

This record from the Book of Wu is written like the Book of Searching for God, if there is really a "five-color qi", then the jade seal has been lost for more than a year and cannot be hidden. So it's more like saying that Sun Jian has the appearance of an emperor, but this "phase", the only common denominator, I am afraid is short life...

My thought was that the account of the Book of Wu should be true.

The reason is very simple, "Book of Wu" is not written by Wei Yao alone, there will always be someone to remind, if you want to give gold to the Sun family, the scene of Sun Jian's birth is already very scary, this is also another line of thought, Cao Pi said that before the emperor, there was a yellow dragon in Yuxian County, this is the face of the emperor, there is no need to joke with such an obvious symbol as the jade seal.

In addition, according to the "Records of the Duke of Shanyang", the jade seal was indeed obtained after Yuan Shu detained Lady Wu, and from the point of view of personality, Yuan Shu could do it, and Sun Jian, at least in military practice, absolutely did not dishonor the name of "loyal martyr", not that he could not hide the jade seal privately, but this matter itself did not affect his image of a loyal subject.

As for the "five-color gas", let's ignore it.

Three Kingdoms (25): After Sun Jian attacked and captured Luoyang, did he have any jade seals hidden? Why?

Fifth, helpless moves

If what is written in the "Book of Wu" is not false, then from the written records, this piece of the national jade seal should be true, about this, we have the opportunity to talk again, only to say that after getting the jade seal, Sun Jian ordered the news to be blocked, hid the jade seal, and also said that it was given to Lady Wu as a birthday gift, which is really ....

This is not important, the question is, why did Sun Jian secretly hide the jade seal? This has always been the focus of debate, including Sima Guang, who has left his own views in the history books.

But my opinion is that Sun Jian did the right thing.

Let's see what else you can do besides hiding:

First, give to Emperor Xian; second, give yuan shao; third, give yuan shu; fourth, throw it back

Under the circumstances at that time, it was impossible for Sun Jian to enter Chang'an in the west and give the jade seal to Emperor Xian.

Yuan Shao, the leader of the alliance, wanted to establish a new monarch, and this practice had attracted countless people's scolding, including Liu Yu himself, who Yuan Shao wanted to establish, and if he gave him the jade seal, it would be tantamount to sitting on the name of "chaotic courtiers and thieves".

Look at Yuan Shu again, this cargo soldier is not much, the official is not too big, give him the jade seal, what is the matter... Moreover, Sun Jian was likely to have seen that Yuan Shu was not authentic, and if Yuan Shu himself claimed to be emperor, this crime would be even greater than giving yuan Shao.

Then throw it back? Let's not talk about the value of the jade seal itself, only to say that at that time, randomly discarding the emperor's royal things, there will be a lot of charges, a few heads are not enough to cut, when it was first thrown, the person in the well was probably dead, but now, Sun Jian is in full view of everyone, if he throws or destroys the jade seal, there is no drama if he wants to lose it.

Therefore, Sun Jian had no other choice, he could only hide privately, and in the future, either to return to the Son of Heaven or to offer a new king, it was all a loyal act, which was related to his double merchants, and what kind of person he really was, it had little to do with what kind of person he was, loyal or disloyal, I don't know, at least after he got the jade seal, there was no sign that he would call himself emperor.
