Successive dynasties and dynasties have their own national jade seals, and what is mentioned in the title should be the Qin and Han dynasties passed down from the Qin Dynasty to the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period.
The history books record that after Qin Shi Huang unified China, Li Si, the emperor of the Zhao Kingdom, engraved the Chuanguo Jade Seal with the Heshi Bi of the Zhao Kingdom, and the base of the jade seal was engraved with eight characters: "Ordered by Heaven, Both Shou Yongchang".
Since then, the chuanguo jade seal has been regarded as a symbol of dynastic orthodoxy, and countless heroes have risen up to fight for it. After the fall of Qin, Chu Xiangyu and Han Liu Bang competed for hegemony, Liu Bang won, and Yuxi eventually fell into the hands of Liu Bang, the ancestor of Han Gao. Since the Qin Dynasty, the Chuanguo Jade Seal has gone through the Han, Wei, Jin, Song, Qi, Liang, Chen, Sui, Tang and other dynasties, and was lost to the Five Dynasties Later Tang Dynasty (around the 10th century AD), which lasted for more than 1100 years.
There is also a small episode about the story of Yuxi, which tells that in 9 AD, Wang Mang, a foreign minister of the Western Han Dynasty, usurped the throne. Wang Mang was originally a nephew of Empress Wang of the Han Yuan Emperor, who seized power as an emperor and went through several emperors. After Wang Mang usurped the throne, he sent people to snatch the jade seal, and Wang Shi, who was already the empress dowager at the time, suddenly smashed the jade seal on the ground, making a corner missing on the side of the chuanguo jade seal, which was later supplemented by Wang Mang with pure gold, so the chuanguo jade seal was also known as "gold inlaid jade".
Since the Qin Dynasty, the Chuanguo Jade Seal has been circulating normally for more than a thousand years, until it completely disappeared from the world during the Five Dynasties period at the end of the Tang Dynasty. After the fall of the Tang Dynasty, China entered a period of great division of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms. In 937, the late Tang Emperor Li Congke set himself on fire in Luoyang with the Chuanguo Jade Seal. When the soldiers disturbed the battlefield, they turned Luoyang upside down, and did not find the whereabouts of the jade seal, and then the national jade seal disappeared.
In order to show their orthodoxy, the Later Jin Dynasty, the Later Zhou Dynasty, and the Northern Song Dynasty had to make the so-called "high imitation" national jade seal by hand to hide their eyes and ears.
The Dynasties we are familiar with, such as the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, are all "forged" jade seals of the country, of which both the "Treasure of the Emperor's Admiration of the Emperor" are engraved on it, there are also those who carve the "Emperor's Seal", and those who carve the "Treasure of the Heavenly Destiny", which are not carved in small seal font on the Jade Seal of the Qin and Han Dynasties.
However, the jade seal is after all a symbol of orthodoxy. At the behest of the emperor, from the beginning of the Song Dynasty, the "peasants" were constantly used to claim that they had accidentally discovered the jade seal of the country, and then presented the jade seal to the Son of Heaven, which proved afterwards that this was all a cover-up method, and the purpose was only to deceive the people.
There are also many opinions about the whereabouts of the Qin and Han Dynasties' jade seals, perhaps it is still buried in the ground, or it may have been lost to a foreign country.
