In our textbooks, it was emphasized that Shi Lang was the first person to recover Taiwan, and this person can be called a legend of a generation. And what is interesting is that it is obvious that Shi Lang and Yao Qisheng jointly recovered Taiwan, but the Qing Dynasty generally believed that the recovery of Taiwan was the work of Shi Lang alone.
The reason for this phenomenon is that the hero Shi Lang in our history books is actually a person whose ability and character are polarized. In real historical records, Shi Lang dismissed his old colleague Yao Qisheng and became emperor in Taiwan, even stealing a lot of money. So what's going on here?
According to historical records, Shi Lang joined the army at the age of seventeen and submitted to Zheng Zhilong, the most famous pirate leader at that time. After this man surrendered and was killed, Shi Lang followed the famous national hero Zheng Chenggong.
It is worth mentioning that Zheng Chenggong is a very powerful commander, and Shi Lang is one of the most outstanding talents under Zheng Chenggong. When fighting a naval battle, it is necessary not only to have the courage to fight the enemy's blood, but also to be flexible in tactics and even to be familiar with the ability to respond to changes at sea. All of these were flexibly penetrated by Shi Lang, and he also defeated the Qing army many times. Because of this characteristic, Shi Lang soon became a general under Zheng Chenggong.
However, unfortunately, Shi Lang and Zheng Chenggong seemed to be two wrongdoers, and they still could not come together in the end. According to the records, Zheng Chenggong's rule also had certain problems, and internal struggles have always existed, especially everyone's accusations against Shi Lang, which makes Zheng Chenggong's attitude towards him ambiguous.
In the face of Zheng Chenggong's suspicions, Shi Lang said more than once that he wanted to become a monk to vent his dissatisfaction. Moreover, Shi Lang himself also has problems with his personality, so he is usually arrogant, always caught with small braids, and even he ignores Zheng Chenggong's face and kills a person named Zeng De under his hands. This incident completely angered Zheng Chenggong, and even killed Shi Lang's father and brother's entire family.
Because of this change, Shi Lang had to leave Zheng Chenggong and choose to submit to the Qing Dynasty. However, shi Lang at that time did not make much waves, because Taiwan at that time was a monolith, and the Qing Dynasty could not touch it at all. However, with the death of Zheng Chenggong and the death of Zheng Jing, there was great turmoil in Taiwan, and the Qing Dynasty only then remembered to use Shi Lang to recover Taiwan.

Treating his benefactors with such a vicious psychology, then shi Lang naturally became more intense in dealing with other people. After he came to Taiwan, he began to use Taiwan as his military base to build.
For example, whenever the central authorities put forward to him an opinion on the construction of Taiwan, Shi Lang always refuted it, always saying that he would not be exempted from foreign military orders and that Taiwan had its own people's feelings. Even when other people come to Taiwan, they must have a certificate from the imperial court, otherwise they are not allowed to enter. Obviously, this is to use Taiwan as his own backyard, and Shi Lang's move is to become the emperor of the earth here.
Because the situation was special at that time, and the central government's understanding of Taiwan was indeed insufficient, Shi Lang really did this. Now that Taiwan has become its own backyard garden, the next step is to do what the emperor should do. According to historical records, due to Shi Lang's strict control of Taiwan, the population began to decline, coupled with the war and other reasons, in fact, everyone's living standards began to decline.
However, Shi Lang did not care so much, he carried out various miscellaneous taxes in the local area, and also listed various means, just to make money. At that time, the local people were often exploited by his soldiers, so that they could not survive. And whenever it came time to apportion taxes, the official officials of the government were even more devastated like black and white impermanence.
Under such means, Shi Lang harvested a lot of money, according to some unofficial records, the money that Shi Lang said was enough to support the prosperity of his family for two hundred years, which shows how brutal his local rule in Taiwan was.
Of course, one thing is to be sure that all historical figures have their own personal bad attributes, as well as their positive attributes in historical development. Shi Lang did not do a very good job in terms of character, but he still played a huge role in the historical development of that time. Moreover, after Shi Lang's death, he was given the title of Prince Young Fu, and even to this day, there are still Jinghai Marquis Mansions and Shi Clan Ancestral Halls in Quanzhou City. And in the suburbs of Tong'an, there is a performance of light copper pillar square, which is now a cultural relics protection unit in Fujian Province.
