Yao Qisheng, a famous minister of the Kangxi Dynasty

Yao Qisheng (1624–1683), courtesy name Xizhi ( Xi Zhi ) , was a native of Shaoxing , Zhejiang Province. Politicians and military figures during the Kangxi dynasty were decisive figures in the qing dynasty's recovery of Taiwan. He successively served as the governor of Fujian, the title of Shangshu of the Jiabing Department, and the prince Taibao.

Yao Qisheng was born into a wealthy family, but did not have the habits of other clumsy children. Since childhood, he is very clever and familiar with a subset of the history of the Bible, unfortunately! The imperial examination did not go well, and it was not until the age of 35 that he was admitted to the examination and began his career.

In 1668, Yao Qisheng, who was then in Xiangshan Zhi County, was dismissed from his post by his superiors for nuclear smuggling and dereliction of duty, and helplessly left the official field, thus beginning his business path.

In 1674, San Francisco began to rebel against the Qing court, and Yao Qisheng, who had already made a career in business at that time, seized the opportunity to achieve a reversal of life. When he learned that Geng Jingzhong, the king of Jingnan in Fujian, had led an army north to attack Zhejiang, Yao Qisheng himself funded the recruitment of hundreds of Zhuangding people and went to defect to Prince Kang, who was responsible for suppressing the rebellion in the south.

In 1675, Yao Qisheng actively assisted Prince Kang in quelling the rebellion of Geng Jingzhong in Fujian, and was revived by Kangxi and promoted to envoy of Fujian Province.

At that time, although Zheng Chenggong was dead, his heirs still occupied the island of Taiwan, as well as the coastal areas of Fujian such as Zhangzhou. Kangxi had already intended to close the stage at that time, but san Francisco was initially determined and was not yet fully prepared to attack Taiwan. Yao Qisheng raised his own military resources and gathered people and horses, intending to recover all of Fujian first.

In 1677, Yao Qisheng used the grain and grass and weapons he purchased to continuously conquest and completely drive Zheng Jing's forces out of Fujian Province. The Kangxi Emperor was so pleased that he was promoted to governor of Fujian and officially became a feudal official.

In 1678, unwilling to abandon the wealthy land of the Zheng family, arranged for the general Liu Guoxuan to lead an army to attack the Fujian coast and capture Haicheng, the gateway of Zhangzhou. Yao Qisheng, while writing to the imperial court, organized people and horses to resist, and quickly turned the tide of the war, forcing Liu Guoxuan to shrink his forces near Zhangzhou and not dare to attack inward. This series of measures laid the foundation for the subsequent Qing government to recover Taiwan in one fell swoop.

In 1682, Kangxi, who was ready to attack Taiwan, began to recover Taiwan by force, and ordered Yao Qisheng to enter zhengyipin, prince Taibao, and concurrently the governor of Fujian (the viceroy of the Qing Dynasty, how high is to be from Yipin, while Yao Qisheng is directly sealed yipin is very rare). The general Shi Lang commanded all the naval troops, and Yao Qisheng coordinated the military and political affairs in the center to attack the Zheng family forces in Taiwan.

In 1683, Shi Lang finally conquered the island of Taiwan and quickly delivered the victorious military report to Beijing. However, Yao Qisheng was two days late to send general intelligence and Kangxi, which directly led to the "merit of collecting Taiwan" into Shi Lang's pocket. Later, Shi Langjin was made the Marquis of Jinghai, and all the other generals were rewarded, but Yao Qisheng did not receive any commendations.

Seeing that his long-cherished wish for many years had finally come true, Yao Qisheng was very pleased. However, the head skill was picked by others, and Yao Qisheng was very depressed, and then there were some grumbling emotions. Zuo Du Yushi Xu Yuanwen impeached Yao Qisheng: And. Later, Yao Qisheng was condemned and degraded.

At this time, because he had donated his family's rich wealth, he was living in great poverty and suffering from unfair political blows. Yao Qisheng soon caused an old illness, and finally the treatment was ineffective, and he died depressed at the age of 60.

After Yao Qisheng's death, the funeral was handled by his son borrowing money. It is not difficult to see that Yao Qisheng has been clean and honest all his life!
