Tom (Dad):
My life may not be the same as yours, but that's the life I chose.
Daniel (son):
You don't choose to live, you're living a life.

The beginning of everything begins with the contradiction between father and son.
The story is very simple, the son hopes to pursue his ideals, travel the world, take a pilgrimage, and follow the footsteps of his predecessors; but the father hopes that his son can finish reading Doctor, find a good job, and live a down-to-earth life.
But the father is still on the way to send his son to complete his dream.
A description of a parent's rebellion against their children
However, his son Daniel was unfortunately killed in France, dying on a pilgrimage to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, encountered a storm, and then died so peacefully.
The sad father went to France to retrieve his son's body and relics, but after arriving in France, the father decided to re-walk the road that his son had already walked and did not finish, and complete the unfinished dream for his son.
So, the elderly father embarked on his son's "pilgrimage road", took the road he had walked, looked at the scenery he had seen, and perhaps, could be closer to his son...
Although the four people traveled together for different ideals and set out for Santiago, each of them had a story that they did not want to tell.
Each of them is looking for their own salvation, for the choices in their lives...
I want to lose weight, I want to quit smoking, I want to find inspiration for writing, I want to give my lost son a comfort...
The group of four people on foot also continued to get to know each other and constantly explore themselves on the road. They are constantly trying to define each other and they are constantly redefining themselves.
They slowly peel off the inner walls, walk side by side with each other, and in the ever-changing life, they find some meaning that they have never had.
Perhaps, this is what the son said to his father at the beginning of the film:
This is the difference between the life we live and the life we choose.
There's a whole world out there to beat you up plenty, you don't need to go looking for people to pile on.
There are so many things in the outside world that beat you to death, and you don't have to be hostile to everyone because of this.
A father, after walking his son's pilgrimage, finally learned to let go and learn to live.
