Hong Kong, January 17 (China News Service) -- The Center for Health Protection of the Department of Health of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government held an epidemic briefing on the 17th to announce that there were 7 new positive cases of new coronary pneumonia in Hong Kong, including a 23-year-old woman working in a pet store, infected with Delta virus.

Seven new cases, including 3 imported cases and 4 cases of local infection, of which 6 involved infection with a mutated strain of the virus. There were fewer than 20 initial positive cases on the day.

Local cases include a 23-year-old woman working in a pet shop in Causeway Bay, who lives at 2-4 Dong Sheng Road, Aberdeen, Hong Kong, and the SAR Government has conducted a "lockdown" compulsory test on the premises where she lives on the evening of the 16th, the operation has been completed on the morning of the 17th, about 55 residents have been tested, and no positive cases have been found.

Zhang Zhujun, director of the Infectious Diseases Division of the Centre for Health Protection, said that according to the whole genetic analysis of the case conducted by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, preliminary results show that the patient is infected with Delta virus and no case related to her has been found.

On the same day, the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department of the HKSAR Government said that in order to provide further assistance to industries directly affected by the tightening of social distancing measures, the fifth round of the Catering Establishment Subsidy Scheme, the Commercial Bathroom Licence Holder Subsidy Scheme and the Public Entertainment Establishment Licence Holder Subsidy Scheme under the Fifth Anti-epidemic Fund will be accepted from now until 18 February.

The new round of F&B Subsidy Scheme will provide a one-time subsidy of HK$50,000 (HKD, the same below) to $250,000 to licencees of eligible and operating ordinary restaurants, small eateries, floating restaurants and factory canteens, with the scheme expected to benefit over 17,600 F&B establishments.
