That has sparked speculation about whether the 95-year-old British monarch also has the virus.
According to an official at Buckingham Palace, the Queen did not develop symptoms of Covid-19. She said the Queen's physical condition was being closely monitored.
The official did not say whether the queen had been tested for the virus or provided specific details about Charles's last contact with her when she tested positive on Thursday.
But, according to a court official, Charles attended the ceremony Tuesday at Windsor Castle, where the queen currently resides.
In January 2021, Elizabeth and her husband, Prince Philip, received a dose of coronavirus vaccine at Windsor Castle. The British Royal Family has not confirmed any subsequent vaccine doses.
Charles said he had been fully vaccinated and given booster injections. Prince Charles, the 73-year-old heir to the throne, has begun to self-isolate. In March 2020, when the virus first swept through the UK, he contracted the virus and developed mild symptoms before recovering.
Prince Charles reportedly learned thursday morning that he tested positive and postponed his trip to Winchester, England, at the last minute, which he regretted.
Charles's wife, Camilla, allegedly tested negative for the virus and continued to make public appearances.
