To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the release of the classic gangster movie "The Godfather", the Dolby restored version of "The Godfather" will be re-screened in the AMC designated Dolby Theater in North America starting February 25 this year. The Godfather trilogy will undergo 4K Ultra HD fixes and will be available from March 22.
The first film in the Godfather series, which landed in North American theaters in March 1972, was directed by Francis Ford Coppola and co-written with mario Puzo, the author of the original novel. Gangster films starring Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Kenn, Richard Castelno, Robert Duval and others. The film is regarded as the most classic in gangster movies.
Adapted from Mario Puzo's novel of the same name, the film tells the story of the development of a gangster family led by Vito Don Corleone and how Corleone's youngest son, Mike, succeeded his father as the leader of the gang. In 1973, the film won the 45th Academy Awards for Best Film, Best Actor, and Best Adapted Screenplay. In 2007, it was selected by the Motion Picture Association of America as the "Second Best Film in the 100 Years".
