Subaru and its motorsport division, STI, officially unveiled two new concept cars, the STI E-RA Concept and the Solterra STI Concept, at the 2022 Tokyo Modified Motor Show. The Levorg STI Performance Concept and WRX S4 STI Performance Concept also appeared as references to the production body. The BRZ STI Performance modified model car and the BRZ GT300 2021 race car were also on display.
The STI E-RA Concept, which was first unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon, is part of the STI E-RA Challenge, a subsidiary of STI's "Near Future Racing Research Project", with the goal of gaining new experiences and technologies in new racing events in the context of the pursuit of carbon neutrality. Subaru did not say more about the STI E-RA concept. However, it is speculated that this pure electric performance concept car is at least a dual-motor configuration, with a full-time four-wheel drive system at the front and rear, which echoes Subaru's signature S-AWD symmetrical full-time four-wheel drive system.
In addition, the Solterra STI Concept is a concept car based on the Solterra. The Solterra is Subaru's first BEV electric vehicle, making its world premiere on November 11, 2021. The Solterra STI Concept has a fairly obvious cherry red spoiler and roof spoiler design, adding a sporty driving image to the look and echoing the exclusive style of the Subaru STI.
The WRX STI Performance Concept, based on the WRX S4 STI Sport R model, allows fans to imagine what the new generation of WRX STI Performance might look like. Fitted with a large-sized rear wing and a more stable and convergent body air force kit, the overall maturity is very high, and there is no too unique design, so it can be guessed that the mass production version of the WRX STI Performance may not be too different.
The Levorg STI Performance Concept should not receive too little attention, this station wagon has only recently been unveiled in Australia WRX performance model, at the Tokyo Modified Auto Show to launch the STI Performance concept version of the significance, almost the production version is not far away.
