But this is not the case, there are still some places in the world that are experiencing wars, and although China has not really started a war with that country, we still have to think of danger in times of peace. All along, some Western countries led by the United States have made small moves, far from saying, just a few years ago, Meng Wanzhou was innocently detained by Canada and the United States for 1028 days, and finally returned to China on September 25, 2021.
After entering the 21st century, China has basically achieved peace, but in the last century, China's neighboring countries often clashed with China over territorial issues.
Sino-Vietnamese relations
Vietnam has been part of China since ancient times, and vietnam has belonged to China as early as 2,000 years ago during the Qin Dynasty. Although at the end of the Qin Dynasty and the beginning of the Han Dynasty, when the Central Plains were in chaos, Vietnam took the opportunity to stand on its own, but during the period of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, the State of South Vietnam was destroyed, and Vietnam once again became Chinese territory.
Thereafter, until the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, the Central Plains were once again in turmoil, at which time Annam (Vietnam) seized the opportunity to break away from Chinese control. However, during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty, civil unrest in Vietnam led to it becoming a territory directly under the direct rule of the Central Plains Dynasty, this time not for a long time. Within a few years of Ming Chengzu's death, Vietnam became independent again, but still maintained its clan relations with the Ming Dynasty and existed as a vassal state of the Ming Dynasty.
Until the middle of the 19th century, the West experienced the Industrial Revolution, took the lead in becoming stronger, and they coveted the wealth and resources of the East, so they began to invade the East. In this context, Vietnam was gradually encroached upon by the French, and although the Qing Dynasty was the suzerainty of Vietnam, it was eventually forced to give up its suzerainty over Vietnam due to its humble strength.
Despite this, after all, Vietnam is a neighbor of China, so in the 1960s, when the United States launched a war against Vietnam with many countries, although China's situation at that time was not very good, it still gave Vietnam strong support in terms of human and material resources. However, at that time, no one expected that many years later, Vietnam would be ungrateful and take the initiative to provoke China.
Self-defense counterattack against Vietnam
They are also good brothers of socialism, but Vietnam has always been greedy and insufficient, in a vain attempt to provoke trouble at the border. As a result, China's relations with Vietnam became more and more delicate, and finally in the late 1970s and 1980s, China finally began a self-defense counterattack against Vietnam. The war ended with a great victory for our army.
It is understood that it took only one month for our army to invade the capital of Vietnam and destroy Vietnam's infrastructure along the way, which can be said to have taught Vietnam a very painful lesson and let them know that China's territorial sovereignty is inviolable. And this battle also lasted for nine years, so what was the outcome of this battle? As a key area for both sides to compete, where is the final ownership?

In fact, although the battle ended in 1993, it was not until the last day of 1999 that the ownership of the land was truly determined. Why did Vietnam spend nine years fighting for this land?
Originally, lao shan geographical location is perfect, if it belongs to Vietnam, it can provide them with an excellent angle to monitor China's territory, in addition, Lao Shan is an important passage between China and Vietnam, to the west can directly penetrate into the hinterland of China's Yunnan region, it can be said that the strategic significance is very large. It is precisely because of this that once Lao Shan is occupied by Vietnam, it will cause major hidden dangers to the security of Our border. Vietnam understands this, and our army knows even better. Therefore, in order to obtain Lao Shan, despite the heavy losses of Vietnam, it is still an indomitable counter-offensive, and it can be said that although the scope of this battle is not large, it is extremely tragic. The nine-year-long tug-of-war caused great losses on both sides.
In order to usher in peace earlier, the two sides are also talking while fighting. After many failed negotiations, the Sino-Vietnamese Land Border Treaty was finally signed at the end of 1999, according to which 114 square kilometers of the 227 square kilometers of land that are most controversial on the Sino-Vietnamese border belong to China. At that time, although Lao Shan was all under the control of our country, but considering the friendly relations between China and Vietnam, in the end, our country decided to take a step back, the main peak of Lao Shan and the highlands named No. 1, 2 and 3 were all returned to China, and the No. 4 Highlands were divided into half of China and Vietnam, and the rest belonged to Vietnam.
