Therefore, Mercedes decided to merge the former C-class convertible and E-class convertible into a roadster called "CLE". It is reported that the new CLE will be built with the same chassis as the new C-class, so it can be regarded as a derivative of the C-class. In terms of power, the car is expected to still be equipped with the Mercedes-Benz family's 1.5T turbocharged + 48-volt light mixing system, and the high-end model will also be equipped with a 2.0T turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
In terms of appearance, the front face of the new CLE adopts the latest family design, which is extremely similar to the C-class model. In addition to the soft-top convertible, the new car will also be available in a hard-top version, both of which feature a double-door design. The rear of the new car may adopt a bilateral and double exhaust layout, and the overall tail shape is similar to that of the E-class model.
Interior, thanks to the C-class chassis, the interior layout of the cockpit of the new car will be closer to the new C-class sedan that was recently redesigned. The new car will use a new 12.3-inch floating LCD instrument and an 11.9-inch inclined central control large screen, and the overall design is the same as the S-class. In addition, the new car will also be equipped with a new driver assistance system, which is even more intelligent.
