When the troops arrived in Ji County, Chen Geng received the news that the Twenty-fifth Division of the Nationalist Army had broken away from the large troops and followed up, and the division commander was Guan Linzheng.
Hearing the other side's deployment and the name of the division commander, Chen Geng called the chief of staff, Geng Biao, and asked Geng Biao to lead a regiment to ambush the Twenty-fifth Division.
Geng Biao was a little worried when he heard the order, thinking that the other side had a division and that it was too risky to go to a regiment of his own. Chen Geng was very determined after hearing his concern:
It's okay, Guan Linzheng, the commander of the Twenty-fifth Division, is an old classmate of mine, and I know him too well. Although he is brave, he has no one in sight, as long as you set up a set, he will definitely drill into it regardless of life or death.
Hearing this, Geng Biao was relieved to meet the enemy, and first arranged for two battalions to ambush around the rear and attract one battalion to the front.
