Tramway News: Today, the Association of Passenger Vehicles announced the production and sales data of new energy vehicles in December, and the wholesale sales of new energy passenger vehicles reached 505,000 units in December, an increase of 138.9% year-on-year. From January to December, the wholesale number of new energy passenger vehicles was 3.312 million units, an increase of 181.0% year-on-year. Retail sales of new energy passenger cars reached 475,000 units in December, up 128.8% year-on-year. From January to December, the retail sales of new energy passenger cars were 2.989 million units, an increase of 169.1% year-on-year.

The domestic retail penetration rate of new energy passenger cars in December was 22.6%, and the penetration rate of January-December was 14.8%, which was significantly higher than the penetration rate of 5.8% in 2020. In December, the penetration rate of new energy vehicles in independent brands was 39%, the penetration rate of new energy vehicles in luxury vehicles was 32.7%, while the penetration rate of new energy vehicles in mainstream joint venture brands was only 3.3%.

From the perspective of the proportion of retail sales of new energy passenger cars in 2021, the goal of "New Energy Vehicle Industry Development Plan (2021-2035)" to reach about 20% of the total sales volume of new energy vehicles by 2025 is expected to be achieved in 2022.

From the perspective of wholesale volume, the wholesale penetration rate of new energy vehicle manufacturers in December was 21.3%, and the penetration rate of January-December was 15.7%, which was significantly higher than the penetration rate of 5.8% in 2020. In December, the penetration rate of new energy vehicles of independent brands was 35.2%, the penetration rate of new energy vehicles in luxury vehicles was 27.2%, while the penetration rate of new energy vehicles of mainstream joint venture brands was only 3.7%.

In December, the wholesale sales of pure electric vehicles increased by 137.9% year-on-year to 423,000 units, and plug-in hybrid sales of 82,000 units, an increase of 143.9% year-on-year, accounting for 16%.

In December, the sales volume of high-end electric vehicle models increased strongly, the trend of low-end and middle-end was strong, and the dumbbell structure of the pure electric market improved. Among them, the wholesale sales of A00 class were 139,000 units, with a share of 33% of pure electric; the wholesale sales of A0 class were 60,000, and the share reached 14% of pure electric; class A electric vehicles accounted for 25% of pure electric vehicles, rebounding from the bottom; B-class electric vehicles reached 114,000 units, an increase of 25% month-on-month, accounting for 27% of pure electric vehicles.

According to the Association of Passenger Vehicles, the original sales of new energy passenger vehicles in 2022 were expected to be 4.8 million, and should now be adjusted to more than 5.5 million, and the penetration rate of new energy passenger vehicles has reached about 25%. New energy vehicles are expected to exceed 6 million, and the penetration rate of new energy vehicles is about 22%.
