Chuan Meta developed two headsets, and this year released a mini LED screen version

Recently, VR blogger Brad Lynch released a prediction, mentioning two VR headsets that Meta will release soon: Quest Pro (codenamed Cambria) and Quest 3.

Among them, Quest Pro is expected to be released in the second quarter of this year, which will use Mini LED displays, with a target sales volume of 3 million units in the first year. Quest 3 is expected to be announced at the 2023 Connect event (released at the end of the same year) and will be equipped with a Micro OLED screen, which Meta has signed a contract with Shanghai Changxin Technology to establish a Micro OLED screen production line.

According to Qingting Network, Lynch is an XR hardware analyst and VR developer, who has been active in social networks for a long time to publish VR industry information, and he has previously exposed news that Valve has built a VR all-in-one machine and PS VR2 will be mass-produced in China. Quest Pro is a high-end VR headset announced by Meta at last year's Connect conference, which is characterized by support for RGB AR video perspective, support for eye and face tracking, and can enhance the experience of mixed reality, social, office collaboration and other application scenarios.

On the other hand, the Mini LED display should be better than the nearly 2K LCD screen used in quest 2. At the same time, Lynch also said that quest 3 will not use Qualcomm Snapdragon processors (such as XR3), meta will develop a dedicated SoC for it, equipped with a GPU optimized for VR.

Previously, Guo Mingxi also published a prediction for the Quest 3 specification, he said: Quest 3 will be released in the second half of this year, using Mini LED+2P short throw lens (Yujing photoelectric supply). It can be seen from this that Meta may be exploring a VR headset design equipped with Mini LED, but the Quest 3 mentioned by Guo Mingqi may be a device code-named Cambria, and it remains to be seen how to name it.
