1. High immersion

Through the full-screen design and surround light technology, PD9100 and PD9180 can bring consumers a sense of video and audio immersion.

It is understood that the two new products have a 75-inch large screen, which perfectly integrates the pure aesthetics and practical functions of Porsche design, including an elegant alloy fuselage, a slim and exquisite wingsuit base, etc.

Huanjingguang technology is a patented technology exclusive to Philips. Through the smart LEDs on the edge of the TV, the technology casts the colors on the screen onto the wall in real time to create an atmosphere, and the 360° surround screen achieves a perfect light and shadow experience.

2. High image quality

4K/8K+MiniLED+P5 AI bionic smart chip ensures the ultra-high picture quality of PD9100 and PD9180.

Among them, MiniLED technology through up to 1024 partitions of light control, to achieve a very fine control of the color light and shade of the picture, higher contrast, wider color gamut, closer to the real color. Coupled with the 120Hz refresh rate and VRR variable refresh rate, the screen is not stuttering and no smearing, making PD9100 and PD9180 perfect for different application scenarios such as movie watching, e-sports, live sports, and entertainment.

The P5 AI bionic smart chip is based on Philips' cumulative million-level video content database, and deeply optimizes the image picture from the five dimensions of "sharpness, saturation, contrast, fluency, and signal source" to further improve the picture quality performance of the TV.

New products are out, and MiniLED backlit TVs usher in an explosive period

One clear trend is that MiniLED backlit TVs are being introduced more and more frequently. In the short few months of 2022, Konka, Samsung, TCL, Sharp, Sony and other brands have released new MiniLED backlit TVs. According to the data compiled by LEDinside, the lowest price of the MiniLED backlit TV released this year is 9999 yuan (Konka APHAEA A6 Pro 65-inch version), and the highest is philips' PD9180 released this time, which is 49999 yuan.

On the other hand, as Zhu Zhongqing, general manager of the marketing division of Konka Electronic Technology China, said at the "Konka APHAEA 2022 Spring Strategic New Product Online Conference", the color TV market must shift from functional consumption that meets just needs to quality consumption that meets the needs of improvement and pleasure. The recent intensive release of MiniLED backlit TVs has reflected this feature.

Among them: The APHAEA A6 Pro launched by Konka has a variety of personalized free experiences such as free screen fighting, multi-control methods, and massive applications.

The QN700B TV product launched by Samsung is equipped with Samsung's dynamic refresh technology - dynamic acceleration engine, which supports 4K@60Hz VRR game refresh rate and 120Hz content dynamic compensation, and the game experience is excellent.

TCL's 98X9C Pro has been IMAX ENHANCED certified. In this product, TCL for the first time combined the third generation of QD-MiniLED with a 98-inch large screen, with a boundless giant screen, the sound and picture brought by the 98X9C Pro entered the country, so that the living room seconds into a movie theater.

The PD9100 and PD9180 released by Philips use the "golden combination" of 120Hz refresh rate + VRR variable refresh rate to ensure that the screen is always smooth and can bring a fast and smooth game experience.

The color TV market is in full swing, and MiniLED has become a breakthrough weapon

From a macro perspective, TrendForce Pointed out that in the near future, due to the deterioration of inflation due to the Conflict between Russia and Ukraine, consumers will cut the cost of non-necessities without changing the budget, which will cause the demand for TV products to have a deferred effect.

In addition, in 2021, due to the lack of containers, the port of Cyprus and other issues led to a sharp increase in maritime costs, indirectly raising the production cost of the TV machine, and the larger the size, the greater the increase.

In this context, although the current TV panel price has dropped sharply by 30% compared with last year's high, in 2022, in the case of no hope of convergence in freight costs, it is bound to affect the brand's stocking scale in the second half of 2022 in the peak season of overseas markets. Based on this, TrendForce Jibang Consulting revised its TV shipment forecast this year, from the original 217 million units to 215 million units, the annual growth rate converged to 2.4%.

From a technical point of view, at present, LCD TV is still the mainstream technology in the field of television, and the high-end field is "two tigers competing" by OLED and MiniLED. Among them, MiniLED technology can bring ultra-high contrast, ultra-high brightness, ultra-high color gamut, and has the advantage of life that OLED technology cannot match, and is expected to continue to expand its territory in the field of high-end TV in the future, helping TV brands stand out in the fierce competition.

In addition, thanks to the offensive attitude of related companies to the MiniLED market, MiniLED backlight technology is continuously improving technology, expanding production capacity, and reducing costs, and 2022 will be a very important year for MiniLED backlit TVs. LeDinside, the Optoelectronic Research Office of TrendForce Jibang Consulting, expects overall MiniLED backlit TV shipments to challenge 4.5 million units, doubling the growth trend compared to 2021.
