Steam April data: Quest 2 share reached 47.97%, a new high

Quest 2's share is currently as high as 47.97%

(Nweon, May 3, 2022) Valve has announced the April 2022 "Steam Hardware and Software Survey". The data shows that the total number of monthly active VR headset users on the Steam platform is 1.89%, a decrease of 0.24% over the previous month. In terms of the proportion of headsets, Meta's Quest 2, although still increasing this month, is no longer strong, only a slight increase of 0.62%. However, quest 2's share is currently as high as 47.97%, a record high, accounting for nearly half of the Steam platform.

It is worth mentioning that although Quest 2 only increased by 0.62% in April, since most of the headsets are slightly falling or slightly increasing, this is already the biggest increase in the Steam VR platform.

Valve's Index headsets, on the other hand, continued to grow, adding 0.26% this month (the second-largest increase this month) to 15.35%.

In terms of market share, as the Left S continues to decline sharply, to a certain extent offsetting the increase in Quest 2, the proportion of Meta series headsets increased slightly by 0.02 this month to 66.62%, continuing to maintain more than half of the share. The March share of meta series headsets rose and fell. Among them, the Discontinued Rift S decreased by 0.53%, which is the biggest decline this month, but still ranks third with 11.07%. In addition, Quest 1 decreased by 0.12% (3.73% this month), while Oculus Rift increased slightly by 0.05% (3.85%).

In terms of brand rankings, Valve's Index headsets continue to rise, accounting for 15.35%, ranking second; as for HTC, which has the third largest brand share, Vive accounted for 7.02% (+0.02%) this month, HTC Vive Pro was 1.57% (+0.02%), HTC Vive Cosmos was 1.47% (-0.15%), and HTC Vive Pro2 was 0.5% (-0.05%).

In addition, the Pico series of headsets maintained a rally, with an overall increase of 0.03% this month, accounting for 0.67%. Among them, Pico Neo 3 accounted for 0.64% this month, an increase of 0.05%, while Neo 2 accounted for 0.03%, a decrease of 0.02%.
