Oslo, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Norway's "Granary of Art" museum recently opened to the public in the southern Norwegian city of Kristiansand, and thousands of visitors came to this museum converted from a granary to see the style of Nordic art.

The museum covers an area of 3,300 square meters and houses tens of thousands of paintings, prints, sculptures and other works of art created by Nordic artists. The works were donated by the Museum of Southern Norwegian Art and the well-known Norwegian collector Nikolai Tangen. The museum is not only the largest museum in southern Norway, but also the largest collection of Nordic art in the world.

According to reports, the museum took nine years to complete and was converted from a granary built in 1935. The museum will not only exhibit Nordic art, but will also host a series of large-scale exhibitions. On the opening day, the first exhibition, "Passion of the North", was opened, featuring more than 600 works of Nordic art from 1910 to 1990.

The museum is also committed to displaying new technologies, in the "granary laboratory" exhibition hall, the museum projected flat oil paintings onto the ground and four walls, through sound and light, and transformed into three-dimensional multimedia works, attracting many visitors.

Elbijor Dahl, public relations director of the "Art Granary" Museum, told reporters that in recent years, more and more Chinese have come to southern Norway for tourism and business investigations, hoping that the "Art Granary" can attract more Chinese tourists to southern Norway. The "Art Granary" will also explore the possibility of exchange and cooperation with Chinese artists and art institutions.
