It plans to obtain a breakthrough license from the FDA this year

(Yingwei Network, January 11, 2022) The concept of providing real-time information for the human eye through contact lenses originally existed only in science fiction movies. But several companies are actively looking to realize the stated vision, such as Mojo Vision, which has just announced a partnership with brands such as Adidas, and InWith, which debuted at CES 2022. For the latter, the company announced that it has successfully developed the world's first soft contact lens.

As an illustration, contact lenses can be divided into soft and hard. Hard contact lenses are harder, do not change their shape along the cornea, and are generally made of silicone polymers, which can greatly increase the amount of oxygen passed through, so that tears can be fully exchanged. Soft contact lenses are generally made of soft plastic, the lenses are softer, and the wearing comfort is better. Most contact lenses in the market today are soft contact lenses.

InWith claims that the team has pioneered the key technology of integrating solid components and circuits into hydrogel materials, enabling the integration of related AR display modules into the mainstream contact lenses in the market. From the latest AR metacosmic vision applications to providing better visual perception for people with myopia/presbyopia, this breakthrough allows for an electronic revolution.

CEO Michael Hayes said in an interview that the products in question are able to work with smartphones or other electronic devices and show you information about the world around you in real time. For example, in a navigation scenario, the system can transmit navigation information from the smartphone's mapping software to contact lenses and tell you "What is the speed limit for this road?" "In which direction should I go?" "Where's the next exit?" "How far is it?" And so on.

According to reports, InWith is currently working with Fortune's top 50 companies and plans to obtain a breakthrough equipment license from the US Food and Drug Administration FDA this year, so as to put related contact lens products on the market in the near future.
