The Hall of Filial Piety, also known as the "Qinxian Hall" and the "Divine Royal Hall", was built in the fifteenth year of Shaoxing (1145) and is located in the east of the Chongzheng Hall.
The history books record: "Whoever looks forward to the birthday of the shuo, he offers incense at his own discretion and covers the family ceremony." "In other words, this is where the royal family holds grand private celebrations.
Every time the first and fifteenth days of the first and fifteenth day of the first month, the emperor would come to the Hall of Filial Piety and personally toast the incense on the altar.
The gatherings and celebrations of the Hall of Filial Piety are all private royal affairs, so outsiders are forbidden to enter, even the prime minister-level yipin officials are no exception, and even the miscellaneous personnel who usually guard the hall are also served by people who are related to the royal family.

The Hall of Filial Piety was built at the request of Empress Wei, the biological mother of Emperor Gaozong of Song, in the name of filial piety, which contains a piece of filial piety from Emperor Gaozong.
In the twelfth year of Shaoxing (1142), after Empress Wei returned from the Jin Dynasty, she had been living in seclusion in the Cining Hall, rarely going out, and on the Cold Food Festival in 1144, Emperor Gaozong of Song went to ask for peace early, Empress Wei was sitting alone in tears, and under the careful questioning of Emperor Gaozong of Song, she learned that she was sad because of the death of the former capital fenjing and the death of Emperor Huizong of Song.
She said that in the old capital, because there was a filial piety hall, every festival and the wedding celebration of the clan relatives could go to this hall to celebrate, and now there is no such place, it is difficult for the royal family to get together to celebrate, and the warmth of the clan in the old capital is lacking.
Emperor Gaozong of Song was a filial son who took the empress's sorrows to heart. Afterwards, he immediately summoned officials from the three provinces and six ministries to discuss the construction of the temple.

This remark is in line with Empress Wei's original intention, Song Gaozong naturally according to the plan, the craftsmen are all from the old capital of Beijing, the style and selection of materials are all referred to the original Xiaosi Hall, even the functional positioning is copied unchanged, Shaoxing began construction in March of the fifteenth year, completed in October, Empress Wei is very satisfied with this.
The first ceremony after the completion of the Hall of Filial Piety was to set up a stage to sacrifice, and the relatives of the emperor and the country worshiped the ancestors and gods, and held a feast in the hall.
In addition to Emperor Gaozong of Song, Empress Wei, Empress Wu, Zhang Guifei and other harem concubines, two adopted sons Zhao Xuan (Song Xiaozong) and Zhao Zhen also participated in the ceremony and banquet.
Zhao Zhen, because of his fat height and high appetite, swept away the dishes in front of him, which made Song Gaozong laugh and asked the servants to quickly make up the dishes and let the two princes eat well.
During the banquet, Empress Wei praised Emperor Gaozong of Song, which made Emperor Gaozong of Song particularly happy, and even made an exception at the feast to crown his adopted son Zhao Zhen, who had not yet been knighted, as a young school inspector and the king of Enping County. In the thick of family affection, the atmosphere is more harmonious, and it can also be seen that there is no difference between public and private in the royal reward.
It is precisely because Emperor Gaozong of Song attaches great importance to family affection and pays attention to gatherings, and every festival ceremony will require all the relatives of the emperor and the state to participate, making the family celebration more lively.
Therefore, the imperial relatives did not dare to neglect the activities of the Xiaosi Hall, and even if they were a little unwell, they would participate with illness, so as not to be considered weak and widowed by the emperor.
The Hall of Filial Piety is not only the "family affection club" of the royal family, but also the "cultural exhibition hall" in Ouchi.
In the late autumn of the twenty-fourth year of Shaoxing (1154), the imperial court used state power to collect exquisite calligraphy works of Emperor Huizong of Song scattered in various places and compiled a hundred volumes of the Imperial Collection of Emperor Huizong.
Emperor Gaozong of Song wrote the preface to the imperial collection, held a grand publication ceremony at the Xiaosi Hall, and for the first time allowed hundreds of officials of the imperial court other than the emperor to attend, and some lower-ranking imperial court officials were also invited to participate because they donated the works of Emperor Huizong of Song.
Of course, xiaosi hall as a "cultural exhibition hall" is not the first creation of Emperor Gaozong. During the Northern Song Dynasty, the Xiaosi Hall was used by Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty as an exhibition hall to display calligraphy and painting works, and he regarded it as his own large study, where he splashed ink and hung the works in the hall for close courtiers to enjoy, and set up a room to store the calligraphy and paintings of famous artists of the past, under the transformation of him, the literary emperor, the Xiaosi Hall became an art treasure house.
Influenced by his father, Emperor Gaozong of Song was quite fond of calligraphy, so he imitated Emperor Huizong and also displayed his calligraphy works in the palace, and treasured many famous calligraphy and paintings, making it another "imperial study".
In the thirty-second year of Shaoxing (1162), When Emperor Xiaozong of Song ascended the throne, Emperor Gaozong of Song moved to Deokshou Palace with the honor of Emperor Taishang, and the use of the Hall of Filial Piety was gradually changed, and the display of calligraphy and paintings of the royal relatives was stopped, and it was only used for the birthday celebrations of the gods and the imperial family until the end of the Southern Song Dynasty.
During the Yuan Dynasty, the Xiaosi Hall was destroyed by fire, and the laughter of those imperial relatives and relatives was completely obliterated.
The Song Dynasty was a warm dynasty, although there were factional battles, but there were few large-scale killings to exclude dissidents, and even the change of fratricide in the imperial palace was reduced to the lowest point in history.
