On 7 January, I had the privilege of participating in the Chengdu station "Discover the Light of the Future – The New Range Rover Evoque L P300e丨 Land Rover Discovery Sport P300e Green Journey". An old British luxury brand that focuses on luxury and full performance, what it will look like after being combined with new energy, I am very much looking forward to it.
What I tested this time is to find the sport version of the P300e model, the plug-in model maintains a high degree of consistency with the fuel version of the model in terms of appearance design, and still continues the design language of the Land Rover family, but it has been changed in some details.
The interior design still adopts the classic family language of Land Rover, which is in line with the positioning of luxury brands as a whole, and is also relatively generous in terms of materials and workmanship. In addition, in the design of the interior, there is not much use of wood grain trim to avoid being too "old-fashioned", and this interior is still quite appetizing to young people.
Discover the Sport P300e is based on the PTA transverse engine platform and is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system composed of a 1.5T three-cylinder engine + electric motor. The maximum power of the 1.5T engine is 200Ps and the maximum power of the electric motor is 109Ps. So the car has a system of 309Ps combined power and 540N·m of system combined torque.
The Sport P300e was found to have three drive modes, namely EV, Hybrid, and SAVE mode. Ev mode is well understood, that is, through the motor to drive the vehicle forward, at this time the vehicle is pure electric mode, the overall driving experience is the same as the general pure electric model. The SAVE mode is that the motor does not work, and the vehicle is driven by a 1.5T engine, at which time the vehicle will become a pure gasoline car.
As for our daily driving, the most used should be the hybrid mode. The vehicle in hybrid mode, the start of the electric machine to work first, the response to the power will become more positive, if the need to accelerate again, the engine will be further involved, then the power performance will still make the driver more confident. And in hybrid mode, after releasing the accelerator pedal, there will be obvious kinetic energy recovery intervention, but the degree of intervention is better mastered, and it will not make the driver feel sad.
As a member of the Land Rover family, the Discover Sport P300e also has decent off-road performance. The vehicle's ground clearance reaches 212mm, the approach angle is 23°, the departure angle is 28°, the longitudinal passage angle is 19.5°, and the maximum wading depth is 600mm, which is not a problem to cope with the general off-road road.
Combined with Land Rover's unique all-terrain "perspective" technology and Land Rover's signature ATPC all-terrain process control system, the subjects in the off-road test drive field are not challenging for it at all, and the overall performance is very relaxed.
Editor's comments: Starting from the static dimension, it is found that the performance of the sports version of the P300e is almost the same as that of the fuel version, and the family design is enough to attract the attention of many consumers. Through the test drive, it can be seen that the essence of the Discovery Sport P300e is the hybrid mode, and the faster power response definitely makes the Discovery Sport version more sporty. In order to maintain this sport, Land Rover has specially added a fast charge to the new car, so that it can be more efficiently replenished. For some cities with limited traffic or purchase restrictions, or friends who want smooth and quiet and lower fuel consumption and green travel, it is found that the sport version of the P300e and the Range Rover Evoque L P300e will be a better choice than the pure fuel version.
